Sponsors: Well folks, this is the last recap for this season. Saturday was a wonderful day with sunshine all day and clear skies into the evening. The time trials went off without a hitch, with everyone qualifying directly to the 100 lap, "A" Mains. The first race started late afternoon with the Micro A Main. Sitting on pole was #203 driven by Nathan Lloyd who had the fastest time for the Micros with a time of 11:891. Outside pole was held by #55 Jordan Hanna with the second fastest Micro time of 11:915. The race began with 27 cars doing an impressive four wide for two or three laps. Something everyone loves to see and it was done beautifully. When the green flag waved #203 Nathan got the lead but was soon brought up short as a caution came out when #69 Mike Hanna was spun in corner four. #16 Rick Bigg went to the back for that one. The race continued with #203 Nathan and #55 Jordan pushing each other as they drove side by side through corners one and two. They got a brief break when a caution was thrown for #49 Dana Duff who spun out in corner two, he went to the back. The race resumed only for a few laps when #49 Dana spun once again between corners three and four, as this was his second caution, he was shown the exit. The race continued with #203 Nathan still holding the lead and #55 Jordan still trying to take it away from him. Unfortunately, a caution was brought out when #55 Jordan, #16 Rick Bigg and #19 Trevor Helle were all caught up together in corner two. #55 Jordan was pushed off the track and #16 Rick and #19 Trevor both went to the back. This left #203 Nathan still in the lead and 2nd place was now Bob Kelly. Mean while there was one car that was lapped #85 T J Esler and other cars that had to leave but came back on, on green flags. The next caution came when #76 Sean Durand had a blow out and went into the infield and then left. It was replaced and he came back on later. #203 Nathan held the lead with #72 Bob right behind him and on the front stretch #203 Nathan, #72 Bob even went four abreast as they began to lap cars. The race continued with quite a bit of passing throughout the field with the top four cars always remaining the same. 1st #203, 2nd #72, 3rd #21 Ron Prince and 4th #3 Kevin Moore. Another caution was brought out when #79 Chad Baker caught the back wheel of #5A Danielle Rabkin and spun her into the wall. #79 Chad went to the back. Racing continued with #203, #72 and #21 beginning to put some distance between them and #3 Kevin who was putting a bit of land between him and #6 Andrew Gartly and the rest of the field. All was well until #90 Mark Lamont, #31 Brent Kemps and #25 Brook Chinnery came together, #31 Brent left the track and #25 Brook was sent to the back. Twenty two laps into the race, #203 Nathan continued to hold the lead, while in the back #79 Chad, #55 Jordan and #25 Brook decided to go 3 and 4 abreast in corner two. Two more cautions occurred when #89 Sadie Bennett spun on the front stretch and went to the back, and when #6 Andrew Gartly and #27 Nathan Housden got caught up in corner two. #6 Andrew went to the back. After one lap, a caution came out when #16 Rick was having some problems, he wobbled slightly in corner four but in corner two he lost it causing #79 Chad and #55 Jordan to join him. #16 Rick went to the back. Meanwhile the race continued with the same four cars in front until #76 Sean Durand caused a caution as he cut a tire and spun in corner 4. That was game over for #76 Sean and he had to retire for the night. The race continued again for only a few laps when there was a major crash on the front stretch as #29 Shane Butler spun and caught #89 Sadie Bennett who spun twice and hit the tires quite hard. #16 Rick and #85 T S Esler were also caught up in it. #89 Sadie had to leave the track due to damage, #29 Shane left but was back on before the green flag and he went to the back. By now, several cars have been lapped and quite a few were laps down from leaving the track for repairs. #58 Chris Kolpin spun and hit the tires between corners three and four. As the race resumed #72 Bob Kelly took over the lead putting #203 Nathan in 2nd . Caution came out once again as #5A Danielle Rabkin lost a tire in corner four which went into the field narrowly missing the corner man. As she spun she took #69 Mike Hanna, #13 Ian Hunter, #55, Jordan, and #70 Casey Cox (tonight's driver). #5A Danielle was pushed off the track As the race resumed #72 Bob was in 1st, #203 Nathan 2nd, #21 Ron Prince 3rd , #3 Kevin Moore 4th, and #27 Nathan Housden 5th. One lap in, caution again when #11 Johann Schmidt hit the tires in corner four just after the exit. Racing continued with #72 Bob and #203 Nathan beginning to put distance between them and #3 Kevin who had moved up to 3rd. Unfortunately for #203 Nathan, he spun in corner two after holding the lead and 2nd place for a HUGE part of the race. He went to the back. Now the top three leaders were #72 Bob, #3 Kevin and #21 Ron, with only approximately 15 cars on the lead lap. Several laps were down when…..another big crash occurred bringing out the red flag. #5A Danielle Rabkin was being passed on the high side by #67 Bill Durand, she lost a tire for the second time tonight and went high, hitting #67 Bill and causing him to hit the wall and roll over. There was considerable damage done to #67 Bill's car with a demolished wing, bent axle, broken frame and several bruises. I have decided that the corner man for corner two must
live a charmed life, because that was twice in one night he was missed
by Danielle's tires and I have seen him doing some neat dancing on other
nights as well to avoid flying tires. Again they only got a couple of laps when a caution was called for #79 Chad who spun in corner two. The was a NEW top 3 as #72 Bob continued to hold the lead, #3 Kevin in 2nd and #27 Nathan Housden now took over 3rd position. These three continued to lead the race safely past a caution for #21 Ron who spun in corner four by #203 Nathan who went to the back, and for #25 Brook who was sent to the back for causing the accident in corner four which involved #29 Shane Butler (who left), #6 Andrew, #70 Casey, and #13 Ian. These top three worked their way past numerous lapped cars and accidents until the last lap when #72 Bob was spun into the wall between corners two and three by #25 Brook. #72 Bob Kelly still went on to take the checkered flag with #3 Kevin Moore in 2nd and #27 Nathan Housden in 3rd. All in all this was quite the race with way too many
cautions as everyone tried to end their season with a bang. Too bad some
of those bangs were against walls and will give some drivers plenty of
repair work to do through the winter. Brief break here, the 50/50 draw made over $770
dollars tonight. Congratulations to Sandi Laemers who won it as she was
sitting on the scoring stand and almost lost it because she didn't
realize she had won and was busy working. They were about to call
another number when she stopped to check her ticket. Way to go Sandi,
and thanks so much for helping out Saturday night. The Outlaw A Main was quite the race as well with a mere 13 cautions. Twenty two cars started the race, with #44 Barry Dunn with the fasted time trial time of 11:475 sitting on pole and #45 Curtis Gartly with second fastest time of 11:505. With the green flat, #44 Barry got the jump on lead but was quickly shut down as a caution came out for #8 Ken Lewis who spun in corner four and went to the back. He left the track for repairs and came back on just as the green flag dropped again; he had to chase down the pack. #62 Steve Burlotte brought out the yellow, when he lost his chain causing #36 Casey Cox and #91 Kyle Watters to spin as the cars ahead of them checked up to miss #62 Steve. A red flag was brought out at this point, as a spectator was taken to the ambulance. The race was brought to a halt until the Ambulance which had to leave, returned. The restart lasted for only one lap before #24 Darin Hanna had a problem causing several cars to check up, luckily no one came together and just #24 Darin went to the back. The race became interesting here as the top four #44 Barry, #45 Curtis, #36 Casey and #32 Dan Laemers were all fighting hard for the lead and racing so closely they looked like they were all connected together. Finally, #44 Barry, #45 Curtis and #32 Dan began to put a bit of space between them and the field until a caution came out for #1 Holly Porter as she broke and couldn't get off. #32 Dan and #45 Curtis were running side by side for several laps behind #44 Barry. #8 Ken and #62 Steve brought out the next caution as they were trying to leave the track but weren't quite quick enough. The field became grouped together again when another caution came out for #37 Shawn Paul who spun in corner 3. Several other cars spun to miss him and #4 Matt Wells spun backwards into the light post in front of the spectators. #11 Norm Brunette went to the back for this one. There was such an amazing race between the top three cars; it was difficult to take my eyes off to watch the rest of the field. Constantly, #45 Curtis had #32 Dan riding beside him pushing to take over second place. There were two more cautions as #20 Mark Watson spun into the infield in corner four and spun again between corner one and two but also caught #4 Matt as well. #20 Mark went to the back. For a brief moment, #32 Dan passed #45 Curtis on the outside in corner 2 but fell back to 3rd as a caution came out for #4 Matt and #97 Ken Charboneau who came together on the front stretch. #97 Ken went to the back. A few cars were now down laps, from leaving and coming back on the track. There became some distance between the top four of #44 Barry, #45 Curtis, #32 Dan and #6 Tyler Wilson and the next 5th and 6th place cars of #91 Kyle Watters and #301 Ron Veroughstrate who were also putting space between them and the rest of the field. There was quite a bit of passing in the field, but most eyes were probably on the top 5 or so because that was where most of the action was. There were two more cautions involving #4 Matt and #20 Mark (who went to the back). Also with #69 Andy Wells who slowed up on the front stretch causing others to check up behind him. #37 Shawn Paul was blacked flagged due to a flat tire. And #3 Steve Wells NARROWLY misses the wall in corner two but obviously had a problem as he left at the next exit. #11 Norm Brunette bought out a caution as he spun in corner four and left the track, but this opened the door for #3 Steve to come back on. #44 Barry was just beginning to move away from those pesky 2nd and 3rd place cars when #69 Andy caused a caution in corner two. #20 Mark took the opportunity to head into the infield to sit, and #3 Steve still hadn't fixed his problem and had to leave again. #11 Norm came back on. #44 Barry ran out of luck when his car broke down and he had to go into the infield. Our new leader was now #45 Curtis who was being hounded by #32 Dan and #6 Tyler. These three now became glued together and they ran lap after lap around the track. #32 Dan decided to try high on the outside of #45 Curtis for three laps until he (Dan) was finally able to pass him. #32 Dan was NOW the new leader, with #45 Curtis in 2nd, #6 Tyler 3rd and #301 Ron in 4th. There weren't many more laps left in the race and the final caution came when #46 Jake Miller spun while trying to pass a lapped car and #32 Dan spun to miss him. #32 Dan got his place back and began putting distance between him and #45 Curtis which quickly gave #32 Dan the win, #45 Curtis 2nd, #301 Ron 3rd. I apologize for this being so long winded, but I hate to forget anyone's moment in the light and they were TWO One HUNDRED LAP RACES. To anyone who's flip or spin I missed, I'm sorry, I try to see all, but sometimes things just happen too quickly, especially if I am looking the other way. Any slights or omissions are purely accidental. Thanks to everyone who volunteers at the track in every capacity, all the fans who come out week after week, the ladies on the hill and to our beloved track owners Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Smibert. Thank you for allowing us to play in your back yard every Friday night. Sincerely, Joy Durand |

Sponsored by: Hi there Race Fans, this will be my last Friday night recap for this year, but I will be doing a recap for the Saturday, Sept. 18th Wonderland Classic. Friday night racing had a special treat for those die hard fans, 'cause they got "two for the price of one". The Outlaw A Main race of July 16th, which had to be rescheduled, was run last night. And much to a certain driver's pleasure, he won the race again..."Officially". My Congratulations go to Norm Brunette of the #11 car, who won his first OFFICIAL Outlaw A Main. He was currently leading the race when the July 16th race had to be called due to time. Way to go Norm! Now, for those who were wondering… during the rescheduled Outlaw race, #1 Holly Porter had been collected up in a crash and could only be freed by letting air out of her tire. So the air was removed and Holly was allowed to leave the track to fill her tire back up then come back onto the track and back to her original position. The rule says that if you leave the track you go to the back, but this was an exception due to the accident and circumstances beyond her control. Now, onto the racing. The Micro B Main began with #90 Mark Lamont on pole and #29 Shane Butler on outside pole. #90 Mark grabbed the lead but a caution was soon called as #40 Shawn Preston spun and went to the back. Then, with a restart came another caution, as #5A Danielle Rabkin had a bit of bad luck when her car broke and she had to leave the track. Restarted with #90 Mark still in the lead only to have another caution when in corner 2, #29 Shane spun and went to the back. Caution again when #69 Mike Hanna spun in corner 4 and went to the back. Shortly after the restart, a new leader took over. #55
Jordan Hanna took the lead with only a few laps remaining in the race
and then took the checkered flag. The Micro A Main started with #16 Rick Bigg on pole and #67 Bill Durand on outside pole. With the green flag came a yellow as #16 Rick and #27 Nathan Housden got caught up together. Apparently #16 Rick found a WET spot on the track and spun collecting #27 Nathan as he went. Unfortunately, he (Rick) had to go to the back. The race was restarted, now with #67 Bill on pole and #13 Ian Hunter on outside pole. The race was off, with #67 Bill taking the lead. Before many laps, another yellow was thrown in corner 2 as #17 Craig Housden, #6 Andrew Gartly and #19 Trevor Helle all came together. #19 Trevor lost a front wheel in that crash, which went flying into the pit area almost taking out the corner man. On the restart, #67 Bill still held the lead with #13 Ian breathing down his neck for one WHOLE lap until another caution came out. #16 Rick Bigg, #5A Danielle Rabkin, #6 Andrew Gartly and #55 Jordan Hanna all came together in corner 2. #203 Stan Adams spun in corner 1 to miss the accident and broke something, unfortunately that put him out for the night. #55 Jordan went to the back on this one. Restart once again with #67 Bill leading only to lose it very quickly to #13 Ian. #3 Kevin Moore followed Ian up to take over 2nd place and #72 Bob Kelly took over 3rd. #67 Bill was having engine problems and would eventually leave the race for the night. All was going well with quite a bit of passing until #40 Shawn spun in corner 2. He had to go to the back. #13 Ian continued to lead the race and began lapping the cars of #89 Sadie Bennett and #40 Shawn. The race continued until several laps later, #55 Jordan brought out another caution as he spun on the front stretch. There were now 16 cars on the lead lap. Cars were leaving and coming back on the track only to be laps down. The final caution of the race came when #5A Danielle spun in corner 2 and went to the back. There were 3 abreast passing back in the field and #13
Ian Hunter, went on to win the Micro A Main, with #3 Kevin Moore in 2nd
and #72 Bob Kelly in 3rd. The 2nd Outlaw A Main of the night, was fast with about 5 or 6 cautions. #62 Steve Burlotte sat on pole with #11 Norm Brunette on outside pole. At the drop of the flag, #11 Norm got the lead; unfortunately a caution came out on the 1st lap as a MASSIVE pile up occurred in corner 2. #36 Casey Cox, #02 Hugh Smibert, #69 Andy Wells, #31 Adrian Kemps, #4 Matt Wells, #8 Ken Lewis and #37 Shawn Paul were all caught up in it. #02 Hugh left but came back on, #4 Matt left and came back on, #36 Casey and #37 Shawn had to be removed on the trailer. Quite a bit of damaged was sustained by all cars involved. On the restart, #11 Norm got the lead once again with #6 Tyler Wilson in 2nd and #44 Barry Dunn in 3rd with #62 Steve pushed back to 4th. Before long, another caution came when #62 Steve spun in corner 2 and went to the back. #4 Matt ducked out for quick repairs but was back on before the restart. #11 Norm held the lead for about a quarter of the race until #6 Tyler over took him and was quickly followed by #32 Dan Laemers. #11 Norm was now sitting in 3rd position. Yellow once again as #44 Barry had mechanical problems and left the track along with #22 Dave Insell and #4 Matt. #6 Tyler held on to the lead even when #32 Dan decided to race him wheel to wheel in a challenge for the lead, only to have to drop back as a caution came out for #62 Steve who spun in corner 3 and had to be put on the trailer. Twenty laps into the race, #6 Tyler still held the lead with #32 Dan trying extremely hard to take it away from him. They both lapped #4 Matt as they fought for the lead and began putting distance between themselves and the rest of the field. #11 Norm, #45 Curtis Gartly and #91 Kyle Watters also began to put distance between themselves and #301 Ron Veroughstrate who was sitting in 6th and running all alone. He had a few car lengths between himself and the rest of the field. The race continued with small positioning wars going on through out the field, until yellow came out for #1 Holly Porter as she broke down on the front stretch and had to be pushed off the track. There were only 6 laps to go. With no more cautions, the last 6 laps went quickly, with #6 Tyler Wilson holding off #32 Dan for the win. #32 Dan Laemers finished 2nd, #11 Norm Brunette 3rd, #45 Curtis Gartly 4th and #91 Kyle Watters 5th. This was a great race night and I am sure a nerve wracking night for all the drivers, as this was the last POINTS night of the season. I would also like to welcome back #89 Sadie Bennett, good to see you on the track again Sadie. Congratulations to all the winners tonight, and the best of luck to everyone for the time trials next week and the Annual Wonderland Speedway Classic. May your wheels all stay attached and your wings in the up right position. |

Sponsored by: Fast Track Performance Inc. HI there Race Fans, here we are coming down to the wire with only 2 more races left in the season. The Friday night race was another one for the books with great racing and great weather. We had an update on #27 Nathan Housden who was caught in a serious crash last week. Turns out he actually has a cracked ankle and is on crutches. He was forced to watch from the side lines last week as friend Ken Charboneau (driver of the #97 Outlaw) drove Nathan's car for him. We also had an update on #89 Sadie Bennett, who is still hoping to be able to join us for the HUNDRED LAPPER. Sadie suffered a sprained neck in her accident a couple of weeks ago. So, good luck to both of you, we hope to see you on the track before the season is out. Friday night began with the MICRO B MAIN which had 15 cars in the line up. #6 Andrew Gartly had the pole and #0 D. Lewis/G Edmonds sat on outside pole. With the green flag, #0 got the lead until a few laps later #27 Ken Charboneau had to nurse his car off the track due to mechanical problems which brought out the first caution of the race. On the restart, #3 Kevin Moore who had been sitting in 2nd took over the lead. It wasn't long before #3 Kevin, #0 and #6 Andrew had a small breakaway from the rest of the field. This continued until the second caution was brought out in corner 1 as #11 Johann Schmidt and #31 Brent Kemps came together as #31 Brent spun out. Result was #31 Brent got a flat right rear and #11 Johann also had a flat. Both left the track but #11 Johann was back on before the green flag dropped again. Now we had a green/yellow flag as another caution occurred when #5A Danielle Rabkin had problems with the front end of her car and had to leave the track. #31 Brent came back on at this point. On the restart #3 Kevin still held the lead with #0 and #6 Andrew close behind him. There was only one car lapped during this race and the top 5 cars remained the same for most of the race. On the final lap, #3 Kevin Moore won the B Main and
#69 Mike Hanna spun. The OUTLAW B MAIN was as quick as the Micro B Main and the Outlaws only had two cautions. The line up had nine cars because #22 Dave Insell was scratched. #02 Hugh Smibert (track owner) had the pole and #24 Darin Hanna sat on outside pole. With the green flag, #24 Darin got the lead with #02 Hugh right behind him. The first caution came out when #02 Hugh ran high and came to a stop in corner 2. Apparently his car broke and he was pushed off the track. #24 Darin held the lead and now #91 Kyle Watters sat in 2nd place. #91 Kyle raced high to take over the lead from #24 Darin and got it very quickly. This put #24 Darin in 2nd and #44 Barry Dunn in 3rd. the next caution came when #1 Holly Porter broke and tried to make it off the track under her own power. She missed by a few feet which brought out the yellow flag and she had to be pushed off the track. With the restart once again, #44 Barry, #24 Darin and #37 Shawn Paul were all fighting for 2nd place. Halfway through the race #91 Kyle still held the lead and #44 Barry was in a firm 2nd place. The rest of the field was running bumper to bumper. With in a few laps, #37 Shawn made it out of the back field, past #44 Barry and found himself in 2nd place behind #91 Kyle. The second caution came when #24 Darin spun in corner 2 and #1 Holly who had been off for quite a few laps came back on at that time. The race finished quickly with #91 Kyle Watters taking the checkered flag. The MICRO A MAIN had 21 cars in the line up as #76 Sean Durand had mechanical problems before the green flag and had to leave. Sitting on pole was #55 Jordan Hanna and outside pole sat #90 Mark Lamont. #90 Mark got the lead with #79 Chad Baker who had started in 3rd right behind him and even running neck and neck at times. At the first caution #31 Brent Kemps checked up to miss a bouncing car and ended up hitting the tires in corner 1, he was towed off. #49 Dana Duff had a flat tire and was also pushed off at the same time. The lead was still held by #90 Mark closely followed by #79 Chad, #55 Jordan and #67 Bill Durand. The next caution came when #25 Brook Chinnery spun in front of the starters stand and was towed off. #49 Dana came back on at that time. And #79 Chad left. This put #90 Mark in 1st still, #55 Jordan in 2nd and #67 Bill in 3rd. The race was interrupted once again after only one lap as a caution came out for #72 Bob Kelly as his car broke in corner 4. #79 Chad came back on at this time. Only for there to be another caution, as #17 Craig Housden hit the wall between corners 2 and 3 and had to be pushed off. On the restart, there were only 14 cars left on the lead lap as there were some that were lapped and some that were laps down from leaving the track for repairs. The restart had #90 Mark still in the lead and now #67 Bill in 2nd with #55 Jordan in 3rd. At one point, #90 Mark, #67 Bill, #55 Jordan and #3 Kevin Moore were breaking away from the field until a caution came out for #69 Mike Hanna who spun infield in corner 2 and #55 Jordan left the track. The top three cars were now, #90 Mark, #67 Bill (2nd) and #3 Kevin (3rd) #90 Mark Lamont went on to win the race with #67 Bill right behind him. This race was very fast despite all the cautions. It was also run with all of the cars running close together and at times side by side. A very exciting race to watch. The OUTLAW A MAIN began with 19 cars. Sitting on pole was #8 Ken Lewis and on outside pole was #46 Jake Miller. With the green flag, #8 got the lead and #46 Jake was right behind him, they quickly began putting distance between them and the rest of the field. A few laps later, #37 Shawn Paul who came from 8th position, started catching #8 Ken until a caution came out as #20 Mark Watson found himself in the infield. Before this caution #02, Hugh Smibert, #24 Darin Hanna and #1 Holly Porter were running 3 abreast at times. Before one whole lap had been made on the restart, another caution came out as #44 Barry Dunn ended up in the infield and #24 Darin went off the track. Twelve laps into the race, #8 Ken still held the lead and #37 Shawn was sitting in 2nd with #6 Tyler Wilson in 3rd. There were only two lapped cars which were #22 Dave Insell and #4 Matt Wells. #44 Barry had come back on the track only to leave again as his car broke and had to be towed off. #8 Ken continued to hold the lead with #37 Shawn close behind him. #6 Tyler sat in 3rd and #36 Casey Cox 4th. These top 4 cars began to break away from the field which had #32 Dan, #301 Ron Veroughstrate and #31 Adrian Kemps running 3 abreast. The last caution of the race came when # 32 Dan had chain problems and had to leave the track. On the restart #37 Shawn stole the lead away from #8 Ken and held on to the lead for the last few laps. Tough race Ken, but I guess that young pup Shawn, just wasn't going to give up until he took a checkered flag. Congratulations to all the winners tonight. It was a great night of racing with no major accidents but quite a bit of carnage. It seems everyone is anxious to get those last few points before the last point's race on September 10th. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all get your cars back in mint condition before the next race. Remember, THRE IS NO RACING ON LABOUR DAY WEEKEND. Last of all, I want to thank those ladies on the hill, Mrs. Smibert and her merry little band of helpers. Great job as always ladies, don't know what every one would do with out that pit stop. |

Sponsored by: Hi Race Fans. Here I sit once again recapping the Friday night racing and what a night it was. We had to wait quite a while for Mother Nature to stop watering the track and then we got to watch Hugh Smibert triumph over Mother Nature when he brought out his big toy to work the track in even more. (See picture on front page of website). The races were run the same as last week, with all three Micro Heat races first, then the then Outlaw heat races. Followed by the Micro B Main and so on and so on. Now, I begin the recap with the Micro B Main which started with #21 Ron Prince on pole and #90 Mark Lamont on outside pole. This was a pretty quick race with only two cautions. With the drop of the green flag, #21 Ron took the lead and held it for most of the race. The first caution came when #11 Johann Schmidt got caught up on the edge of the infield in corner 2 with #69 Mike Hanna. #69 Mike went to the back on this one. The race continued with quite a bit of passing and with #79 Chad Baker who had started the race in 5th, moving up to 2nd position. He was in 2nd when the second caution came out. #25 Brook Chinnery spun in corner 4 and was sent to the back. #11 Johann Schmidt who had been gone for a couple laps for repairs came back on at that time. #21 Ron and #79 Chad fought hard for several laps before #79 Chad made it to 1st position, putting #21 Ron back in 2nd. #79 Chad went on to win the Micro B Main. The Outlaw B Main was almost as quick as the Micro B Main. The race began with #91 Kyle Watters sitting on pole and #6 Tyler Wilson on outside pole. With the green flag, #6 Tyler, got the lead. But, the first caution came as #24 Darin Hanna got caught up in the infield and had to go to the back. The race began again with #6 Tyler holding on to the lead until he began to put some distance between him and the second place car of #37 Shawn Paul who was also putting some distance between him and the rest of the field. The second caution of the night came when #62 Steve Burlotte performed multiple summersaults and amazingly vaulted over the tires beside the starters stand to miraculously land on all four tires. He was unhurt but had lost a front tire. The crowd held up 9.8 and 10.0 signs for his points. He should have been in the Olympics with summersaults like those. The race began once again with #6 Tyler holding the lead and #37 Shawn still in 2nd place. #24 Darin caused another caution, as he spun in front of the starters stand and was asked to leave the track as this was his second caution of this race. #6 Tyler and #37 Shawn once again began moving away from the field with #45 Curtis Gartly now in 3rd position. The next caution came out when #69 Andy Wells and #02 of Hugh Smibert got entangled by the wall between corners 2 and 4. They BOTH went to the back on this one. #11 Norm Brunette was pressing #91 Kyle hard for 4th position and finally got it within a few laps. The race now had #6 Tyler in the lead, #37 Shawn right on his bumper with several car lengths between the 3rd position of #45 Curtis and 4th position of #11 Norm. This pair also had several car lengths behind them and the rest of the field. #11 Norm was sitting right on #45 Curtis's tail and sometimes even beside him, until finally, #11 Norm got past #45 Curtis for 3rd place. The checkered flag fell with #6 Tyler in 1st, #37 Shawn in 2nd and #11 Norm in 3rd. The Micro A Main began with #3 Kevin Moore on pole and #13 Ian Hunter on outside pole. #3 Kevin got the lead. The first caution of the race came out when #76 Sean Durand got a flat tire and had to go off. He was back on before the green flag fell. Once again #3 Kevin held the lead with #13 Ian trying hard to take it away from #3 Kevin. He, #13 Ian got the lead shortly afterwards. The second caution came out when #69 Mike Hanna spun slightly and went up hill to the infield in corner 1 and #67 Bill Durand had to use the exit off the field to avoid the accident. He immediately came back on. #25 Brook Chinnery went off the track, came back on and then left again. Now, #13 Ian held the lead with #3 Kevin in 2nd and #203 Stan Adams in 3rd. The next caution occurred when #17 Craig Housden blew a right rear tire but made it off under his own power. On the restart, #31 Brent Kemps left the track. At least three cars were lapped at this point and the field was broken up into two groups. The next caution came when #40 Shawn Preston was slowing down due to problems and #85 spun into the infield. #31 Brent came back on with this caution. #13 Ian still held the lead, #3 Kevin was still 2nd and now 3rd place was held by #79 Chad Baker. The next caution came when there was a humongous crash involving several cars in corner 3 which brought out the Red Flag. Because there were various opinions as to how it occurred and I didn't see it, I will just state the facts on this one. When the dust settled, #203 Stan was hooked up on the wall by his front tires, but unhurt. #49 Dana Duff flipped and had serious damage, he was towed off. # 55 Jordan Hanna flipped and left the track. Some how, #27 Nathan Housden got the worst of the whole ordeal. His front hood was demolished, he found the front cage of his car on his face, (believes a tire pushed it in on him) and both front and back of his frame were seriously pushed in and twisted. The St Johns Ambulance came out to check on Nathan and he went for a short ride with them off the track. #17 Craig Housden, Nathan's brother, sat in the infield (he tried to avoid the crash), #76 Sean Durand also went into the infield to avoid the crash. Later I asked Nathan how he was and he said he had a sore elbow and ankle at the moment, did not know what tomorrow would bring. When all was said and done, there were 15 cars left on the track undamaged and three of those were lapped cars. The race continued with #13 Ian holding the lead and now 2nd place was #79 Chad and 3rd place was #72 Bob Kelly. The final caution of the race came when #85 T J Esler who had been lapped a few times found himself in the infield. He went to the back. Shortly afterwards, the race came to an end with #13 Ian Hunter taking the checkered flag, #79 Chad Baker in 2nd and #72 Bob Kelly in 3rd. The Outlaw A Main began with #31 Adrian Kemps on pole and #36 Casey Cox on outside pole. When the green flag waved, #36 Casey got the lead with #20 Mark Watson right behind him. #20 Mark had started in 3rd position. The race was fairly quick with only two cautions. #36 Casey and #20 Mark ran side by side for a bit until #20 Mark took over the lead, putting #36 Casey in 2nd and #31 Adrian in 3rd. The first caution occurred when #69 Andy Wells stopped in corner 1 (not sure why) and then rejoined the race again. A few cars were lapped as #20 Mark broke away from the field, followed a bit behind by #36 Casey who also had distance between him and the rest of the field. In the back of the field #301 Ron Veroughstrate and #3 Steve Wells ran side by side for a bit with #301 Ron coming out ahead. The second caution of the night came when #62 Steve Burlotte broke and had to be pushed off and #45 Curtis Gartly left the track, along with #44 Barry Dunn, both came back on before the Green flag. On the restart, #20 Mark maintained the lead as #32
Dan Laemers fought #36 Casey for 2nd place. Basically #20 Mark Watson
had a great race and took the checkered flag. #36 Casey Cox held on for
2nd place and #32 Dan Laemers held on for 3rd place. |

Helllloo Race Fans! The Friday night racing started with Mother Nature watering the track and delaying mud laps for a bit, so our lovable track owner Hugh Smibert had to bring out his BIG toys to do a little fine tuning to the track before racing could begin. We also have an update on the #89 car of Sadie Bennett. Apparently, Sadie suffered a neck injury and will not be able to race for several weeks. Sorry to hear that Sadie and we wish you a speedy recovery and back on the track soon. Now, on with the race recap; the racing format had been changed slightly to allow the Micros to run all three of their heat races before the Outlaws. With the track being soooo wet, there was some concern that the bigger tires of the Outlaws, would cause the track to roll over andmake the track very rough. The Micro B Main began with 12 cars, with #29 Shane Butler on pole and #49 Dana Duff on outside pole. At the drop of the green flag, #49 Dana got the lead but the first caution came out almost immediately as #6 Andrew Gartly spun in corner 1. There was a complete restart, and the #49 Dana grabbed the lead once again. Within a couple of laps, the caution came out again when #69 Mike Hanna and #6 Andrew came together in corner 3. #69 Mike was sent to the back. There was a restart and caution once again as #19 Trevor Helle spun in corner 4 and #40 Shawn Preston left at this point with mechanical problems. When the cars were restarted, #49 Dana maintained the lead with #27 Nathan Housden in 2nd and #90 Mark Lamont in 3rd. These three were quickly breaking away from the rest of the field. Another caution occurred when #29 Shane Butler, spun by himself in corner 1. The rest of the race went very quickly from this point with #49 Dana Duff winning the Micro B Main. The Outlaw B Main was a very fast and short race which started with #22 Dave Insell on pole and #37 Shawn Paul on outside pole. The cars quickly broke up into single file with almost a car length between them. There was only one caution after which #37 Shawn got the lead and pulled away from the field. #37 Shawn Paul easily won the Outlaw B Main. Micro A Main was quite a race with numerous lapped cars and 5 cautions. The race began with #31 Brent Kemps on pole and #5A Danielle Rabkin on outside pole. With the green flag, #31 Brent got the lead. Shortly afterwards, #5A Danielle spun in corner 2 and had to go to the back. There were quite a few cars bouncing badly that are normally bounce free and there were about 7 cars which were quickly lapped by #31 Brent. The second caution of the race came when #55 Jordan Hanna, spun in corner 1 and was sent to the back. Three quarters of the way into the race, there were only 13 cars of the original 22 left on the lead lap, everyone else was either lapped or gone. The third caution came when #203 Stan Adams spun in corner 2 and was sent to the back. Meanwhile #31 Brent continued to hold the lead. The fourth caution occurred when #5A Danielle and #17 Craig Housden came together in corner 4. 5A Danielle left the track. On the restart, #49 Dana Duff who had been sitting patiently in 2nd place was able to take the lead away from #31 Brent. The final caution of the race came, when #203 Stan spun once again and was sent to the back. The race continued with #49 Dana in the lead and taking the checkered flag. #31 Brent Kemps had to settle for 2nd place and #3 Kevin Moore took 3rd place. Congratulations Dana on your feature win. The Outlaw A Main began in their usual fashion of late, with a MASIVE crash in the first few laps. #8 Ken Lewis had pole with #62 Steve Burlotte outside pole. With the green flag came an immediate caution when #6 Tyler Wilson stopped on the track in corner 2 then was gone from the track. On the restart, there was a green/yellow/red flag as #44 Barry Dunn spun crossways across the track in front of the starters stand, causing numerous cars to come together and/or check up. #91 Kyle Watters rolled over landing on his wing which cushioned the roll somewhat but collapsed almost immediately. He appeared unharmed but his wing was destroyed. #36 Casey Cox who had become entangled with #91 was able to continue racing. The #02 of Hugh Smibert had his car removed on the hook, Hugh appeared to be unharmed. (Come on guys, can't you even give Hugh a break???? J) The #45 Curtis Gartly ended up in the infield, but by doing so, he escaped any damage. #46 Jake Miller appeared undamaged but the #4 of Matt Wells had to leave. #44 Barry made it back on the track again before the green flag. The over all consensus was, too many cars(and drivers) were trying to make it to the front in the first lap. The race continued with #8 Ken Lewis still in the lead (and undamaged), #62 Steve Burlotte in 2nd, #301 Ron Veroughstrate sitting in 3rd, #69 Andy Wells 4th, #20 Mark Watson 5th, and #32 Dan Laemers 6th, everyone else went off and came back on again. Of the 18 cars which started the race there were only 15 left to finish it. On the restart, #8 Ken moved out and away from the field but another caution was called as #62 Steve, broke and tried to make it off the track but didn't quite make it by the time he reached corner 4 and had to use the services of the 4 wheeler guy. The top four cars were now, #8 Ken, #301 Ron and #20 Mark with #32 Dan coming up fast and anxious to make his move. #20 Mark tried to take the lead but ended back in 2nd. The field began to break up into several smaller groups with three cars to each group. Finally it came down to #8 Ken and #32 Dan in the front group with #20 Mark falling behind as was everyone else. #8 Ken was having an amazing race, lapping cars and making terrific passes with #32 Dan close on his tail. Unfortunately in corners 1 and 2 he got caught up behind a slower moving car and contact was made with the #8 Ken as he was passing and he ended up in spinning and hitting the tires between corners 1 and 2. He was told if he could make it back on the track he could keep his spot. He tried, but his car had sustained damage and couldn't finish the race. This left #32 Dan in first place and on a mission. #32 Dan now had the lead and was quickly lapping cars himself. A caution came when #11 Norm Brunette and #4 Matt Wells came together causing #11 Norm to sit in the infield and #4 Matt to be removed from the track. #44 Barry went to the back. #20 Mark was sitting in second but a caution came out when his car broke, and he left the track, #301 Ron also left at this time, but was able to come back before the green flag dropped. With the green flag, #32 Dan took off and put half a track between him and the second place car of #6 Tyler Wilson who was busy fighting off 3rd place car of #69 Andy Wells. The only cars that appeared to be on the lead lap were, #32 Dan Laemers, #6 Tyler, #69 Matt, #37 Shawn Paul, #45 Curtis Gartly, #24 Darin Hanna, everyone else was either lapped or gone. #32 Dan just kept making the gap between him and 2nd place get bigger and bigger until he crossed under the checkered flag. Tonight's race seemed to be a case of the SURVIVAL OF THE LUCKIEST. Congratulations Dan on another Feature win. |

Hi there Race Fans, once again we had a pretty interesting race night after having two weeks off. The Outlaws had a double feature night, so we will get right to the recap. But first, I would like to CONGRATULATE Dean the 4 wheeler guy who couldn't make tonight's race CAUSE HE WAS GETTING MARRIED. I wish all the best to the happily married couple, congratulations. The MICRO B MAIN had 13 cars in the field with #13 Ian Hunter sitting on inside pole and #16 Rick Bigg on outside pole. At the drop of the green flag, #13 Ian quickly took the lead but was soon reeled in by the rest of the field. #16 Rick dropped back to 4th and was running side by side with #89 Sadie Bennett until #89 Sadie managed to move ahead. #85 T J Esler was quickly lapped by the lead car of #13 Ian who was followed closely by #17 Craig Housden with #70 Beach McIntyre in 3rd place. Before too long #13 Ian and #17 Craig were running wheel to wheel with #17 Craig taking over the lead. This set the field with #17 Craig, in 1st, #13 Ian, #70 Beach, and #89 Sadie all in a bunch with about ¼ of the track between them and the rest of the field. #17 Craig Housden made short work of the race and took the checkered
flag. OUTLAW FIRST A MAIN had 19 cars starting the race with # 62 Steve Burlotte on pole and #20 Mark Watson on outside pole. This race began with THE WHOLE field running together as one, for 1 ½ laps before #62 Steve managed to take the lead. First caution came when #11 driven by Chris Barengrat found himself in the infield. It wasn't long before #20 Mark took over the lead and #69 Andy Wells became a lapped car. Next caution came when #62 Steve slipped sideways in corner 4 and was joined by #45 Curtis Gartly and #44 Barry Dunn. There did not appear to be any damage as all three cars continued to race. On the restart, #20 Mark still had the lead and #32 Dan Laemers was now sitting in 2nd place. Another caution occurred when #11 Chris met up with a slower car who zigged when he zagged causing #11 Chris to spin out in front of the starters stand. Unfortunately, #11 Chris suffered quite a bit of damage with a bent axle, rim, tire etc. He was then assisted from the track. Mean while, more cars were being lapped. The raced continued with #20 Mark in the lead closely followed by #32 Dan with about 3 cars lengths between them and the rest of the field. #4 Charlie, a very courteous driver, went high to let the leaders past in corner 2. The race continued with #20 Mark in the lead with #32 Dan breathing down his neck with some passing going on in the rest of the field. #20 Mark eventually took the checkered flag. The MICRO A MAIN began with a bit more competitiveness than usual as son #76 Sean Durand held pole and father #67 Bill Durand sat on outside pole. Didn't take long to show who had the dominant car here when #67 Bill took the lead and #76 Sean fell into 2nd place. They quickly put some distance between them and the field until a caution came out with #13 Ian Hunter spinning out in corner 3. #69 Mike Hanna left the track at that time. On the restart #67 Bill held the lead with #76 Sean in 2nd and #21 Ron Prince in 3rd. All was going well with a pretty interesting race shaping up with quite a lot of passing until #76 Sean had to leave the track with a blown engine. Now the lead lap had #67 Bill still holding the lead with #21 Ron on his back bumper and #55 Jordan Hanna sitting in3rd. Suddenly, due to purely a racing incident, #89 Sadie Bennett found herself flying through the air and doing a 360 before she hit the wall between corners 2 and 3 with quite a bit of impact. The RED light came out. The St Johns crew was quickly out on the track with their ambulance and it was quite a few minutes before they decided to put Sadie on the stretcher and check her out more fully off the track. I understand that Sadie was badly shaken and had a stiff neck. The same could not be said for her car. #0 D Lewis and #13 Ian also suffered damage in the crash and were removed from the track. On the restart of the race #67 Bill who had been leading up to now, suddenly found his engine was fouling and soon lost his lead position to #21 Ron. The next caution came out when #72 Bob Kelly spun between corners 1 and 2 and #203 Stan Adams was sent to the back. On the restart #21 Ron lead with #55 Jordan in 2nd and #27 Nathan Housden in 3rd, they quickly put some track between them and the rest of the field. There were a few lapped cars as the race continued. Another caution came when #49 Dana Duff spun into the in field between corner 2 and 3. The race ended with #21 Ron taking the checkered flag and #55 Jordan in 2nd and #27 Nathan sitting in 3rd. The OUTLAW SECOND A MAIN started with #69 Andy Wells on pole and #31
Adrian Kemps on outside pole. The race began with a GREEN FLAG/CAUTION
as someone's tire blew going into corner 1 and several cars tried to go
from the back to the front in the first corner. A MAJOR pile up occurred
with a considerable amount of damage. Several cars left the track
briefly for quick repairs leaving only 12 cars undamaged or at least
drivable cars out of the 19 cars which started the race on the track. The next caution came when #3 Steve spun out in corner 4 due to a flat right front tire. He left the track for a quick repair and was soon back on again before the green flag was dropped. #6 Tyler was asked to leave the track as it appeared the officials did not agree with where he wanted to be in the line up. This left #69 Andy still in the lead, #8 Ken Lewis in 2nd and #301 Ron in 3rd. Another caution came when #91 Kyle Watters spun in corner 1 right after the first lap of the restart. #62 Steve Burlotte was sent to the back. It was not long before the yellow flag came out once again when #301 Ron slid out in corner 1 and was sent to the back. The line up now had #69 Andy in the lead with #8 Ken still in 2nd, #20 Mark Watson now sitting in 3rd and #91 Kyle in 4th. #8 Ken made an amazing pass on #69 Andy for the lead but quickly lost it in the next corner as #20 Mark passed both of them and took over the lead himself. Now the line up had #20 Mark in the lead with #69 Andy in 2nd, #91 Kyle in 3rd, #8 Ken in 4th and #45 Curtis Gartly and #32 Dan Laemers fighting it out for 5th position. They never missed a beat as they drove on either side of #8 Ken who was in the process of leaving due to engine problems. There was only one lapped car in this race. #20 Mark Watson held on to the lead as the cars behind him kept fighting for positions. When the yellow was pulled for #3 Steve who spun into the infield between corners 1 and 2, #32 Dan was sent to the back. #20 Mark was still in the lead with #91 Kyle in 2nd and #45 Curtis in 3rd. Another caution yet again, when #32 Dan, #3 Steve and #31 Adrian all spun in corner 3. #31 Adrian left due to a bad wheel and #3 Steve was sent to the back. The last caution of the night occurred when #62 Steve Burlotte spun by himself in corner 3 and went to the back. The race came to an end with #20 Mark Watson winning his second A
MAIN of the night, #91 Kyle 2nd, and #45 Curtis 3rd. This was quite a
race with a tremendous amount of passing, cautions and action.
Congratulations Mark on your double wins tonight. |

Friday night at the races. This past Friday night was full of excitement during the races. Unfortunately, the OUTLAW A MAIN which was won by #11 Norm Brunette was considered a NON RACE as there were too few laps due to too many cautions and time restrictions. This race will be rescheduled and run again. Sorry Norm, hope you can do a repeat performance in the new race. The evening started with the MICRO B MAIN, which found #16 Rick Bigg on pole and #72 Bob Kelly on outside pole. First lap into the race #29 Shane Butler spun resulting in multiply cars spinning to miss him. #85 T J Esler bounced off the tires near the pit area and had to leave the track due to a bent axle. On restart, #72 Bob took over the lead as he managed a ¼ lap lead on the field. During the race, #27 Nathan Housden got caught up in the mud between corners 2 & 3 and did a beautiful job of saving it so a caution did not have to be called. #6 Andrew Gartly narrowly missed the wall in corner 2 several times throughout the night. Half way through the race found the cars in this order, #72 Bob, #21 Curtis Gartly (driving for Ron Prince), #76 Sean Durand, #16 Rick, #89 Sadie Bennett, #13 Ian Hunter, #69 Mike Hanna, #0 D Lewis, #29 Shane Butler and in last position #11 Johann Schmidt. The race was very quick with only one caution and ended with #72 Bob, in first, #21 Curtis in second and #76 Sean taking third. There were 6 cars lapped during the race as well. The OUTLAW B MAIN began with rookie #1 Holly Porter on pole and veteran #8 Ken Lewis on outside pole. At the drop of the flag, #1 Holly got the lead and #8 Ken was pushed to forth position as he was past by #3 Steve Wells who took over second position and #301 Ron Veroughstrate who occupied third position. #62 Steve Burlotte left the race before half way due to a broken chain, and a caution was called when debris was found on the track. A second caution was called when #24 Darin Hanna and #6 Tyler Wilson managed to get their wheels entangled but tried to keep racing. The officials disagreed and called a caution. Halfway through the race, found the cars in this order; #1 Holly Porter, #3 Steve Wells, #301 Ron Veroughstrate, #8 Ken Lewis, #02 Hugh Smibert, #6 Tyler Wilson, #69 Andy Wells, #24 Darin Hanna, #31 Adrian Kemps, #04 Charlie Forgues, and in last position, #46 Jake Miller. #6 Tyler and #8 Ken raced side by side for a bit and trading a bit of rubber in the process. Again, this was a fairly fast race with only two cautions. The winner was rookie #1 Holly Porter, second place was #3 Steve Wells and third place was #301 Ron Veroughstrate. Congratulations on a great race Holly, giving these veterans a run for their money. Now for the BIG races. The MICRO A MAIN had #90 Mark Lamont on pole and #203 Stan Adams on outside pole. The first caution came in corner 3 as #203 Stan checked up behind somebody but slipped and caused #89 Sadie Bennett, #69 Mike Hanna, #21 Curtis all to become entangled with #89 Sadie rolling her car. Both #69 Mike and #89 Sadie had to leave the track with #21 Curtis the sole survivor continuing on with the race. #5A Danielle Rabkin spun out after she was past the crash. #203 Stan was sent to the back of the field. There were two more restarts in single file with #90 Mark holding the
lead and #55 Jordan Hanna sitting in second but working hard to take
over first. Eventually, #55 Jordan past #90 Mark on the outside on
corner two. Another caution came when #6 Andrew Gartly spun in corner
two and #203 Stan took this opportunity to leave the track. On the restart, #55 Jordan maintained the lead with #90 Mark in second, #31 Brent Kemps in third. The race continued until in corner three #11 Johann Schmidt spun out which opened the door for #203 Stan to come back on to the track several laps down. With 27 of the 35 laps run, #55 Jordan still held the lead with #90 Mark still in second and #31 Brent Kemps still in third. The final caution came out when #89 Sadie spun between corners 3 & 4. On the restart there were only about 14 cars still on the lead lap. The race ended with #55 Jordan taking the checkered and #90 Mark right behind him in second followed by #31 Brent in third. The OUTLAW A MAIN had so many cautions lap after lap it finally ended with approximately only seven or eight green flag laps completed. The race was eventually called due to time. Also, because less than half of the 40 laps had been green flag laps, the race was not considered to be official. This race will be rescheduled and run sometime in the near future. So once again, I would like to take a moment to thank our host Hugh Smibert for allowing us to play on his track and a warm thanks to the ladies on the hill for all the hot goodies. Also, thank you to the 4-wheeling guys and officials. With out you all, racing would be a pack of hungry drivers and no place to run. |

Sponsored by: FRIDAY night racing once again…oh the good ole summer time…..Friday night at the Wonderland Speedway was a special night once again. The Micro cars got to have a TWIN 30 LAP RACE, which also made it a DOUBLE POINTS night. There were 30 laps in each race and the second 30 lap race was totally inverted from the first 30 lap race. In the heat races, the top 5 cars automatically moved on to the MICRO A MAIN and the remaining 9 cars went through the MICRO B MAIN. The top 7 cars from the B Main went on to the first of the 30 lap MICRO A MAIN. Here is the B Main recap. MICRO B MAIN MICRO B MAIN only had 9 cars running in it with #17 Craig Housden on pole and #69 Mike Hanna on outside pole. The race began with #17 Craig taking the lead. But, before the race really got underway, #6 Andrew Gartly spun out slightly and stopped on the track causing the first caution of the race to come out. The cars were lined up once again single file this time, and #17 Craig took the lead and held it through out the race. #69 Mike and #89 Sadie Bennett held second and third position with #67 Bill Durand and #203 Stan Adams in forth and fifth. The second caution came when #69 Mike spun in front of #89 Sadie, collecting #67 Bill. #67 lost out, when he lost his front left wheel during the discussion and had to leave the track. He did not make it back on again for this race. The race was restarted with #17 Craig in the lead, #203 Stan in second place. The third and final caution came when #69 Mike went up in to the infield on corner 4. The race was restarted and after a few laps ended with #17 in first and #203 Stan in second. OUTLAW B MAIN OUTLAW B MAIN began with #44 Barry Dunn on pole and # 36 Casey Cox on outside pole. When the green flag dropped, #36 Casey had the lead with #44 Barry right on his tail. There were about three car lengths of space before third position of #69 Andy Wells and THE REST OF THE FIELD. Aside from the first two cars, the rest of the field was running so tightly together it was as if there was only one car. Pretty amazing to watch actually, because in this tightly knit field there WAS STILL passing going on. Meanwhile, there were cars being lapped such as #20 driven by Heather Watson, #11 Norm Brunette and #4 Charlie LaForge. There were not a lot of cautions except when #24 Darin Hanna and #8 Ken Lewis came together at corner two, when #24 Darin spun facing the field and caught #8 Ken up in his frame. #24 Darin was then sent to the back. When the cars were restarted, #36 Casey still held the lead and took off once again with #44 Barry right behind him. Shortly afterwards the checkered flag dropped with #36 Casey Cox in first, #44 Barry Dunn in second and #69 Andy Wells in third. 1st MICRO A MAIN MICRO A MAINThe first of the twin 30 lap race started with #90 Mark Lamont on pole and #76 Sean Durand on outside pole. There were 22 cars in the race. At the drop of the green flag, #90 Mark took the lead with #76 Sean close behind him. It wasn't many laps into the race before the first caution was thrown in corner two as #79 Chad Baker spun taking #16 Rick Bigg with him. #16 Rick left the track. Until this first caution, the whole field stayed close together with passing still going on. On the restart, #90 Mark kept the lead and again #76 Sean was right behind him. The race continued for a few more laps until another caution was thrown as #6 Andrew Gartly spun in corner one which also allowed the car #16 Rick to rejoin the race. About a quarter of the way into the race, #76 Sean began to run beside #90 Mark on the outside and before a full lap had passed, #76 Sean was in front of #90 Mark and putting space between them. #27 Nathan Housden who had started in fourth, was now right behind the #90 Mark for third position. #76 Sean held the lead lap after lap. Another caution came when #27 Nathan spun in front of the #3 car of Kevin Moore. Both cars left the track. On the restart #76 Sean once again took the lead. Four or five laps were made before the next caution when the #79 Chad spun in corner three causing many other cars to spin as well. #90 Mark spun and rolled into the tires in front of the spectators but came back to rest on his tires. #40 Shawn Preston and #69 Mike Hanna was also caught up in the accident. # 79 Chad went to the back. #76 Sean took the lead on restart and was putting space between him and #21 Ron Prince who was now in second place. Half way through the race, another caution was caused when #55 Jordan Hanna spun in corner two and sat facing the field. It wasn't 1 lap further before #72 Bob Kelly spun in corner four causing another caution. #76 Sean held the lead while #21 Ron held second, #72 Bob Kelly held third and #13 Ian Hunter and #203 Stan Adams fought for forth position. These five cars ran nose to tail until #203 Stan spun out in corner four and was sent to the back. The rest of the field was a few car lengths behind them. The race continued with #203 Stan ending up in the infield and was out of the race. #3 Kevin was lapped and #16 Rick Biggs was also lapped and a few laps down from his accident. The race finished with #76 Sean Durand winning his first Feature Win of his Career. #21 Ron Prince took second and #72 Bob Kelly placed third. OUTLAW A MAIN OUTLAW A MAIN was also 30 laps which began with #6 Tyler Wilson on pole and #37 Shawn Paul on outside pole. #6 Tyler immediately got the lead. Not sure what was happening tonight, but again the whole field was running close together for several laps with #44 Barry Dunn, #46 Jake Miller, and #20 Heather Watson all running 3 abreast for half a lap. The first caution was thrown in corner three when #20 Heather, #46 Jake and #44 Barry found out that the track just was not wide enough for 3 across. Unfortunately they took #4 Charlie LaForge with them and Charlie was finished for the night and pushed into the infield. #44 Barry was pushed off the track and #11 Norm Brunette who was having mechanical difficulties left the track as well. #20 Heather and #46 Jake went to the back. On the restart, #6 Tyler held the lead and #37 Shawn held second with #02 Hugh Smibert sitting in third position. The race continued with #6 Tyler putting quite a space between him and #37 Shawn and #02 Hugh who were also putting space between them and the forth place car of #97 Ken Charboneau and the rest of the field. #6 Tyler held the lead and started passing cars in the
back half of the field. Cars were sliding sideways up through the
corners and when the next caution came out, it was for Tyler #6 held the lead with #02 Hugh sitting in second and #37 Shawn slipping back to third. Unfortunately a few laps later, #02 Hugh had to leave the track and a caution came out when #91 Kyle Watters was caught up in the infield. BUT, this gave #20 Heather and #44 Barry who had left earlier, the opportunity to rejoin the race several laps down. Half way through the race #6 Tyler was still in the lead, but now #97 Ken was in second place and #45 Curtis Gartly was in third. The race continued with these 3 cars in the lead and #32 Dan Laemers who had come up from tenth position moving into fourth position. The whole race was fascinating to watch, as cars rode side by side IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD and passing continued throughout all the cars. Several cars were lapped either by the leader or because they had to leave the track then came back on. #45 Curtis eventually got the lead, leaving second place to #6 Tyler and third place to #32 Dan Laemers. #11 Norm who had been having mechanical difficulties all through the night, out of COURTISY ran a high line so the cars on the lead lap could easily get past him. Thank you #11 Norm Brunette, that was appreciated. #24 Darin spun in corner two with lapped car #44 Barry , #02 Hugh, #69 Andy Wells and #62 Steve all spinning to miss #24 Darin. #62 Steve was pushed off the track by one of our talented four wheeler guys who was also pulling #44 Barry behind him at the same time. #45 Curtis Gartly won the race with #6 Tyler Wilson in second and # 32 Dan Laemers in third. I think this was the most interesting Outlaw A Main this year. 2nd MICRO A MAIN MICRO A MAIN second 30 laps. The second set of 30 laps for the Micros started with a totally inverted field from the previous A Main of tonight. On pole sat #16 Rick Bigg and outside pole sat #3 Kevin Moore. #67 Bill Durand came in as the bubble car as #6 Andrew Gartly had fan problems and would not be able to race. As the green flag waved, #3 Kevin Moore got the lead with #16 Rick in second place. There were 7 cars in the lead field now with a space quickly opening up between them and the rest of the field. First caution came when #5A Danielle Rabkin, spun in corner 4 (she was in fifth position at the time.) and had to go to the back. #76 left during this caution due to fouled plugs but was out again before the green flag dropped. The race resumed with #3 Kevin still in the lead #16 Rick in second and #19 Trevor Helle in third. The next caution occurred when #90 Mark Lamont and #55 Jordan Hanna came together in corner two after only 1 lap from the previous restart. The top four cars of #3 Kevin, #16 Rick, #19 Trevor and #11 Johann Schmidt in fourth remained pretty consistent with the rest of the field passing and trading places behind them. Caution was called again when #40 Shawn Preston spun causing 3 other cars to spin to miss him. Next lap around, #40 Shawn found himself in the infield at corner two. The final caution came when #90 Mark got caught up on another car and spun in corner two causing #17 Craig Housden and #69 Mike Hanna to spin as they checked up to miss him. The race was called due to time leaving #3 Kevin Moore in first place for HIS first A Feature win of his career. #16 Rick Bigg in second and #19 Trevor Helle in third. #3 Kevin was so happy to have this win, that his young daughter joined him on the track in front of the starters stand after the races. Congratulations to both #76 Sean Durand and #3 Kevin Moore. Well done guys. |

Sponsored by: The Bill Davis Memorial 75 Lap Race of 2004 Well this was some night of racing. The Bill Davis Memorial 75 Lap Race began with the Micro A Main. On pole was the #90 Mark Lamont and outside pole was held by #25 Brook Chinnery. When the green flag dropped it wasn't a ¼ of a lap before several cars were almost welded together in corner 2 causing the caution to come out. The #21 Ron Prince was pushed off, and #27 Nathan Housden along with #55 Jordan Hanna had to leave the track for repairs. All were to come back on later on. On the restart #90 Mark once again took the lead with #25 Brook close behind him. The second caution came when #203 driven by Nathan Lloyd this week broke and did not make it back out to the race until many many laps later. It wasn't long before the back cars began to be lapped by the lead car as the #90 Mark and #25 Brook raced quite often side by side only to have the #90 Mark take the lead once again. Eventually the #25 Brook stole the lead and led for several laps with #17 Craig Housden breathing down his neck. #90 Mark was then left to sit in third position. At one point, I counted at least 10 cars which had been lapped and a couple of them 2 or 3 times. It was quite an exciting race to watch as the leader was replaced once again, by #17 Craig who challenged #25 Brook and then took the lead leaving #25 Brook to sit back in second. The #72 Bob Kelly had come up through the pack from a starting position of 6th all the way to third position. It appeared that the #17 car Craig was not letting go of the lead once he had it. Three quarters through the race there were only approximately 11 cars still on the lead lap. All the rest either had been lapped or had to leave for repairs only to come back on laps down. Another caution occurred, when #5A Danielle Rabkin who had been having trouble throughout the night, broke and had to leave for the night. Still another caution occurred when #40 Shawn Preston bounced into #67 Bill Durand between corners 3 and 4 sending both cars to the back. Mean while #17 Craig was still in first with #25 Brook and #72 Bob fighting it out for second. Caution once again when #79 Chad Baker (in his first night out this year) found himself welded together with the #203 Nathan and had to be pulled apart by the FOUR WHEELER GUYS. Brief note here; thanks guys for being there week after week and doing such a super job. It is really appreciated. Back to the race, #17 Craig remained in the lead and
#72 Bob won over #25 Brook for second place leaving #25 Brook to sit in
third. Next caution found #25 Brook spinning out in front of the
starter's stand and having to go to the back. That left #13 Ian Hunter
in third position. With all the lead changes, lapped cars and cautions, this was quite a race to watch. #17 Craig Housden had a strong finish for first with #72 Bob taking second.
All in all a pretty fast race for the Micros who have been having a lot of trouble finishing a normal race lately before they were cut short by time restraints. It was a great race to watch in the memory of BILL DAVIS. On a different note, the 50/50 draw for tonight was won by ticket number 0995545 which was worth $436.00. Congratulations to that (I am sure) very happy winner. OUTLAW A MAIN The Outlaw A Main started with #37 Shawn Paul on pole and #20 Mark Watson on outside pole. When the green flag was waved, #20 Mark got a jump on #37 Shawn who suddenly found himself fighting off #44 Barry Dunn for second position. When the dust settled (and believe me, it was a very dusty race) the lead was held by #44 Barry and #32 Dan Laemers who had started in third was now sitting in second with #20 Mark in third and #37 Shawn pushed back to forth. The first caution came when someone checked up between corner 3 and 4 and roughly seven cars slid together. #301 Ron Veroughstrate had to leave due to a flat tire, #11 Norm Brunette left as well as #22 Dave Insell and #46 Curtis Gartly. #69 Andy Wells had to be pushed off the track. Most of these cars made it back on to the track before the green flag or within a few laps. After the single file restart, the leader now became #32 Dan with #20 Mark in second and #37 Shawn back in third. After every restart due to cautions, #32 Dan seemed to be able to hold his lead and eventually began putting a huge space between him and the second place car of #20 Mark who managed to be on his own with a slight space between him and third place. Unfortunately for #37 Shawn who was SITTING in third, there was no space for him; he had #45 Curtis behind him, who was determined to get PAST him and in a hurry. The top two cars held their position caution after caution, with #37 Shawn and #45 Curtis still fighting it out for third position. They would run side by side until eventually #45 Curtis found his way past #37 Shawn. One of the last cautions of the night came when our beloved track owner #02 Hugh Smibert found himself bouncing off the tires in front of the grand stands, rearranging some of the tires. #02 Hugh had to be pushed off the track. So close but yet so far, #02 Hugh had been running in about 12th position at that time. Shortly after this caution, #32 Dan made an amazing pass through the middle of the pack and put even a wider space between him and the second place car of #20 Mark. #20 Mark by the way was having troubles of his own fighting off the #45 Curtis. Although the race, spectators and pit crews alike, were blinded by the dust, but no one wanted to move back where they may not see what was happening. The race was finally won by #32 Dan Laemers who had an amazing night with a car that was perfectly dialed in. #20 Mark Watson placed second, #45 Curtis Gartly sat in third position with #91 Kyle Watters taking 4th and #37 Shawn Paul taking 5th. This was a race driven hard by all the drivers. Congratulations to the winner of the Micro A Main and to the winner of the Outlaw A Main. Well done guys. I would also like to say WELL DONE to the corner men, Mr. Flagman and the guys and gals up on the starters stand. Heres to another exciting night of racing. |

Sponsored by: Hi there Race Fans, here we are again after a pretty exciting night of racing. A bit cold still, so there aren’t as many fans up on that hill that we usually get, so stake your spot for the season ‘cause before long, they will once again be four deep watching this pretty amazing site of FRIDAY NIGHT RACING… The track officials, were trying out something new this week to try and cut down on all the cautions in the A Mains, so the Micro B Main started with 15 cars with 9 going on to the Micro A Main. The Micro A Main would have 18 cars starting the race. The Outlaw B Main started with 12 cars and all would go on to the Outlaw A Main. The Outlaws were also running Wing-less tonight “just for the experience of it”. Starting with the Micro B Main, the #67 Bill Durand was supposed to have sat on pole, but after trying a lap found he had developed mechanical difficulties and could not stay for the green flag. This moved the # 21 Ron Prince on Pole and # 72 Bob Kelly on outside pole. At the drop of the flag, #72 Bob took off and had the lead right away, with # 21 Ron in second and rookie #49 Dana Duff in third. It didn’t take long before the first caution came out when #69 Mike Hanna spun between corners 3 and 4. The green flag dropped only to have yellow pulled once again shortly afterwards for the #3 car of Kevin Moore who was narrowly missed by the #40 car Shawn Preston who spun to miss him. There were 3 other cautions in this race but #72 Bob held the lead with #21 Ron and #49 Dana breathing down his neck the whole time. #31 Brent Kemps seemed to race by himself in 4th then a litter further down the track, the rest of the pack was bunched up behind him. #72 Bob made the fatal error of slipping and #21 Ron took advantage of this and got by him along with the #49 car of Dana. # 85 (name unknown) got lapped part way through the race, but the #21 Ron held the lead to win the race with #49 Dana taking second and #72 Bob taking third. The Outlaw B Main actually started with only 10 cars instead of the expected 12, because the #4 car of Charlie LaForge suffered axle damage during his heat race when “guest driver” of the #62 car bounced off the tires at the flag stand and into the path of the #4 Charlie. The #62 owned by Steve Burlotte also was damaged and did not make the B Main. This left the race starting with #69 Andy Wells on pole and #24 Darin Hanna on outside pole. #69 Andy got the lead from the start and a caution was called early as #8 Ken Lewis visited the infield but came out again right away, unfortunately #24 Darin also tried to visit the infield and was caught up on the hill going in and had to be assisted by our friendly four-wheeling man. The line up then restarted with #69 Andy in the lead, rookie #1 Holly Porter in second and #31 Adrian Kemps in third. Some of the cars (due to being wing-less) seemed a little squarely tonight and looked like they were having trouble keeping a straight line. There were several other cautions with cars leaving and coming back through out the race. Through it all, # 69 Andy held the lead until #31 Adrian got beside him and raced side by side for a bit then took over the lead. This did not last too long as #91 Kyle Watters came up through the pack to take over the lead and held onto it long enough to eventually win the race. He was being chased by rookie #1 Holly and had quite a time staying ahead of her. After every caution, #91 Kyle would take off and #1 Holly would be right on his rear bumper. Together they ran lap after lap with out incident. Meanwhile quite a few of the cars were having a lot of difficulty tonight and were spinning out #24 Darin and # 44 Barry Dunn just to name a few. The race came to an end with #91 Kyle in first, #1 Holly in second and #69 Andy taking third. The Micro A Main began with #55 Jordan Hanna on pole and #5A Danielle Rabkin on outside pole. When the green flag dropped a caution followed almost right away as rookie #69 Mike Hanna whose car was not working after all, had to be pushed off the track. There was a complete restart with #55 Jordan still on pole and #5A Danielle still on outside pole. After only a couple of laps there was another caution as #27 Nathan Housden, #13 Ian Hunter were caught up with #49 Dana Duff as he blew a front left tire and spun. Once again the cars lined up double with #55 Jordan on pole and #5A Danielle on outside pole. On the green, #55 Jordan got the lead but was shut down once more as #3 Kevin Moore spun in corner 3. The cars were now restarted in single file with #55 Jordan in the lead. With the green, #55 Jordan took off leaving a space between him and the #5A Danielle who had #21 Ron Prince on her rear bumper. A slight space again had #76 Sean Durand with #13 Ian Hunter breathing down his neck. There was another group of two of #27 Nathan Housden followed by # 25 Brook Chinnery. Further down the track, the rest of the pack was tightly grouped together. There were a few more cautions with cars #69 Mike Hanna (lapped twice), cars #16 Rick Bigg, # 3 Kevin Moore, and #11 Johann Schmidt all being lapped once. With only approximately 5 laps to go, a caution was thrown when #27 Nathan was hurled into the air as he was trying to pass a lapped car. #27 Nathan’s car flew from corner 1 to ¾ s the way to corner 2, and about 5 feet into the air before he landed heavily on his left rear tire. He was badly shaken but unhurt. After the race he was more concerned with the potential damage to his car and the work ahead of him this week to repair it. #76 Sean also spun out trying to pass this same lapped car and was narrowly missed as #27 Nathan came back down to earth just a few feet away from the #76 car. They were running 4th (#76 Sean) and 5th (#27 Nathan) at the time. There were only two laps to go after this with #55 Jordan taking the checkered flag, #5A Danielle taking second and #21 Ron Prince taking third. The Outlaw A Main began with # 97 Kenny Charboneau on pole and #02 of Hugh Smibert sitting on outside pole. When the green flag dropped, #97 Kenny took the lead. First caution came out when #69 Andy Wells checked up due to traffic ahead of him, in corner 4 and the traffic backed up behind him with some cars spinning out. #97 Kenny kept the lead even after another caution was thrown when #44 Barry Dunn spun out in corner 1. Some cars appeared to be having difficulties driving without their wings which I am sure made driving more challenging for the Outlaw drivers tonight. After several laps with cars leaving and coming back on, #20 Mark Watson managed to get the lead, placing #97 Kenny in second and #02 Hugh in third position. Racing continued until #69 Andy spun right in front of the starter’s stand. There were several lapped cars and several cautions but the racing was still very fast and quite often had cars running two abreast. There was a great deal of passing as well. With only a few laps to go, # 11 Norm Brunette spun in front of the starter’s stand and was joined by #36 Casey Cox. It seemed like the same 4 or 5 cars had the most difficulty with driving wingless as they all seemed to spin out more than once. # 11 Norm spun out in corner 4 but made an amazing recovery as # 8 Ken Lewis spun out at the starter’s stand. Wonder if the Flag man, Wayne Varey was beginning to feel like somebody was out to get him. Eventually, the same six cars, which ran at the front of the pack for most of the A Main and did not run into any problems, finished the race in this order; #20 Mark Watson, #97 Kenny Charboneau – second, # 02 Hugh Smibert – third, #91 Kyle Watters – forth and #Dan Laemers in fifth, #3 Steven Wells in sixth. |

Hey there race fans, here we are once again. Racing on Friday night was great as the track was in perfect condition. The weather held out for the racing and it wasn’t even very cold. The Micro B Main was fast and actually had few cautions. The #11 car (rookie) Johann Schmidt had the pole and car #76 of Sean Durand had outside pole. When the green flag dropped, #11 Johann got the jump on the lead with #76 Sean close behind him. It wasn’t long before #76 Sean got the lead away from #11 Johann and began to put some distance between him and the pack. Unfortunately a caution came out when the #69 car of Mike Hanna spun out and brought the pack back together again. AS the green flag dropped again, car #76 Sean took off and continued to hold the lead through out the race eventually taking the checkered flag with car # 13 of Ian Hunter coming in second. The Outlaw B Main went just as quickly with car #69 of Andy Wells sitting on pole and car #22 Dave Insell on outside pole. #69 took the lead early; he even lapped the 24 car of Darin Hanna. All was well in #69 Andy’s world until he spun out himself and had to go to the back. The lead was then taken by #6 of Tyler Wilson who held the lead to eventually take the checkered flag. NOW…. the MICRO A Main was a totally different matter. Car #72 of Bob Kelly had the pole and the #203 car driven once again by Nate Lloyd sat outside pole. On the green flag, #72 Bob took the lead. First caution came out when #40 of Shawn Preston hit the wall on the first lap but was able to continue on with the race. Several cars left but most made it back in again before many laps were down. #72 Bob held the lead until his car broke and he had to leave the track, this left the lead open to #203 of Nate to slip into first. Several cautions were thrown as various cars spun. One caution occurred when the #90 car of Mark Lamont spun causing #67 of Bill Durand to spin while he tried to avoid Mark and #55 Jordan Hanna was caught up as well and had to be towed off. Meanwhile, #203 Nate held the lead but was being chased down by the #76 car of Sean Durand, and the #3 of Kevin Moore in third place. Unfortunately, Sean zigged when he should have zagged and ended up spinning himself and having to go to the back. There was quite a bit of passing in the pack and quite a bit of spinning out causing numerous cautions. The scariest one was when the #55 car of Jordan Hanna spun out in corner two and was narrowly missed by a quarter of the pack. The final caution came when car #6 Andrew Gartly, #76 Sean and #72 Bob tried to take corner two, three wide, and sandwiched #76 Sean in the middle. The race was then called due to time restrictions with #203 Nate taking the checkered flag, #13 Ian Hunter in second and #27 Nathan Housden taking third position. It appears that the Micro A Main is becoming a pretty fast and furious race to be a part of . The Outlaw A Main started with car #62 of Steve Barlotte on pole and the #44 car of Barry Dunn on outside pole. #62 Steve got the lead very quickly with car #44 Barry close behind him. Before many laps were on the board, #6 Tyler Wilson and #02 Hugh Smibert were in trouble and had to leave the track due to mechanical problems. #62 Steve and #44 Barry soon put ¼ track between them and the rest of the pack and before very long were lapping cars quickly one after the other. The track began to dry out very quickly and the faster the track dried out the faster the cars seemed to go. It became almost impossible to watch the race from the pit area due to the dust, but I understand the grandstand saw a great race. At one point #44 Barry took over the lead just to give #62 Steve a break. A caution came out when car #31 of Adrian Kemps spun out in corner two but #44 Barry held on to the lead. Bad luck for Barry though when he developed engine trouble and he had to leave giving first place back to #62 Steve. Then #62 Steve broke down and the lead was taken over by #301 Ron Veroughstrate followed by #36 Casey Cox in second and #32 Dan Laemers in third. Before long the lead changed again when #36 Casey took over the lead with car #301 in second and #32 Dan still in third. #36 Casey amazingly broke away from the pack leaving cars #301 Ron and #32 Dan to fight it out for second place. Meanwhile cars were continually being lapped. The race finally ended with car #36 Casey taking the checkered flag, #301 Ron second place and #32 Dan in third place. Where the Micro A Main race was fast and furious with numerous cautions, the Outlaw A Main was a dangerous place to be if you were the leader. This was one race where it was not easy to determine who the winner would be early in the race and I’m sure the fans of each of these leading cars were sitting on the edge of their seats until that checkered flag dropped. So as another night of racing ends, I would like to thank those wonderful ladies on the hill who keep us supplied in food, snacks and coffee. And a huge thanks to Mr and Mrs. Smibert for inviting us into their home for an exciting night of racing. |

Hello again Race Fans. Once again I have the pleasure of bringing you the update for the race of June 11, 2004. But first, I want to tell you about a new “race term” that has come up. In the sport of Bike racing, when someone sticks on the wheel of the racer in front of him and does not take his turn breaking through the wind, he is called a “WHEEL SUCKER” A few of us have realized that a similar term may be used in connection with a few of our fellow racers (and they know who they are I’m sure). What we are referring to is a “MUD SUCKER” definition: Some one who stands on the side lines and watches others mud in the track thereby keeping their car (the mud suckers car) all nice and clean. A slightly different version would be the MUD SUCKER who just puts one tire in the muddy track and keeps the rest of his car nice and clean. Come on people, everyone needs to do their share as far as mudding in the track. Sure hope they (the officials) don’t have to resort once again to docking you points if you don’t do your fair share. Ok off the soap box and back to racing. The Micro B Main went pretty smoothly with not much happening. The # 13 Ian Hunter, grabbed the lead right from the start and put several car lengths between him and second place which was the # 21 Ron Prince. # 13 Ian won without any serious challenges making it a very quick race. The Outlaw B Main was a little different. # 45 Curtis Gartly got the lead very early and put a ¼ track between him and the rest of the pack. Behind the # 45, # 24 Darrin Hanna and #1 Holly Porter, another female rookie this year who is giving some serious challenges to these veterans were running wheel to wheel battling it out for 2nd place. Eventually # 24 Darrin won out. Soon # 24 Darrin was being tracked down by # 22 Dave Insell, # 11 Norm Brunette and # 69 Andy Wells who were all running nose to tail, lap after lap. A Caution was brought out when # 24 Darrin broke down in corner 4 and had to be pushed off. This was a pretty interesting race which went quickly as well, with the #45 car of Curtis Gartly becoming the winner. The Micro A Main started with # 16 Rick Bigg on pole and # 90 Mark Lamont on out side pole, # 90 Mark won the lead fairly quickly and there was a HUGE amount of passing through the pack. # 90 Mark was able to put a ¼ of the track lead on the pack until # 69 Mike Hanna spun out in corner 2 which brought the pack all together again. The #40 car Shawn Preston brought out a caution when his chain broke on the track; he was currently running 8th at the time. The race continued with # 90 Mark still in the lead and the #203 driven by Stan Adams this time, breathing down Mark’s neck. Cars were having a rough time in corners 2 & 3 bouncing, but it did not seem to phase anyone and they kept right on passing and racing for the checkered flag. As # 90 Mark burned up the track numerous cars were lapped (glad I wasn’t keeping score tonight). Another caution came out when # 13 Ian Hunter bounced and landed on the front spindle of the # 76 car of Sean Durand sending Sean’s tire bouncing down the track. Sean had to leave the track with a broken spindle and 3 wheels and did not make it back on again in this race. Just as the race got started again, the # 6 car of Andrew Gartly spun out and # 67 Bill Durand found him self bouncing from tail to nose and sideways only to land back on all fours again and ready to race. Unfortunately, this brought out another caution and he had to go to the back. The 90 car of Mark, continued to lead until he tried to lap the # 55 car Jordan Hanna, they came together bringing out a caution and the #203 Stan took over the lead, closely followed by the # 27 Nathan Housden. These two veterans ran side by side until #27 of Nathan got the lead. Shortly afterwards the # 5A of D Rabkin spun and brought out the caution once again. # 27 Nathan held the lead until HIS BROTHER # 17 Craig Housden came up and challenged him for it. Craig won the race with # 27 Nathan in second place. The Outlaw A Main started with # 31 Adrian Kemps on pole and # 3 of Steve Wells (ANOTHER Wells’ car) outside pole. # 3 Steve got the lead and took off. Unfortunately, the wheel of the # 8 car Ken Lewis broke off sending his tire FLYING into the pits narrowly missing a crew member in the # 22 trailer. Ken # 8, was removed from the track. The race continued with # 31 Adrian and # 3 Steve fighting back and forth for 1st place. Caution came when the # 11 car of Norm Brunette broke and had to be removed. Eventually, # 3 Steve had the lead with # 97 Ken Charboneau literally pushing him down the track and through the corners as # 97 Ken tried to gain the lead. Steve # 3 then somehow became 3 CARS WIDE as he went down the track holding off #62 Steve Burlotte, #97 Ken and # 32 Dan Laemers. After another couple of cautions, the yellow was brought out for #31 Adrian when he rolled his car in between corners 3 and 4. The race now came down to # 62 Steve and #32 Dan Laemers battling it out for 1st place. This momentum was interrupted when # 97 Ken decided to follow # 31 Adrian and rolled his car between corners 3 and 4. When the racing resumed, # 32 Dan still had the lead with # 62 Steve in second. Cautions continued with cars leaving and coming back and through it all a new rookie, # 4 of Charlie Forges calmly kept his line, missed all the accidents and actually finished the race untouched. There was so much action in this race, from the front runners to the last car that it was hard to take everything in all at once. After many cautions, lots of excitement and many MANY lapped cars, the # 32 Dan Laemers car became the winner of this most exhausting race. I think at this time, I should mention that opinions expressed in this race update are not NECESSARILY the opinions of the Webmaster, Track Owner or Officials of the Wonderland Speedway. Have a great week folks, see you at the track. |

Sponsored by: Friday night was once again a great race night and warmer as well. The Micro B Main consisting of 15 laps and 15 cars had some interesting twists as the newest young rookie # 89 Sadie Bennett took a quick jump at the start and took the lead from veteran # 67 Bill Durand. Car # 89 Sadie led for several laps before the # 67 car of Bill was able to take the lead away from this dynamic young lady. Following close behind in the third and forth positions were cars # 21 Ron Prince and car # 76 Sean Durand. There were a few cautions and even lapped cars before this race was over. Finishing in 1st position was # 67 Bill Durand, 2nd position went to # 203 which is still being driven by Nate Lloyd and 3rd position went to #89 Sadie. The Outlaw B Main was even more exciting as # 44 Barry Dunn, # 97 Ken Charboneau, and # 8 of Ken Lewis made it 3 abreast for almost the whole first lap. # 97 Ken took the lead eventually and kept the lead until # 44 Barry took over just before the second caution of the night for the Outlaws. Everyone was fighting hard for positions and trying to find the perfect line on a somewhat bumpy track Friday night. Car # 1 of another young rookie, Holly Porter, fought the veteran racer # 301 Ron Veroughstrate for 3rd position but eventually lost out to # 301 Ron with Holly finishing the race in 4th position. A very respectable finish for this young lady. Holly has just started racing at the Wonderland Speedway this year, but is no stranger to racing, I hear she started racing soon after she started walking. The Micro A Main was fast and furious with many cautions and eventually was cut short due to time restrictions. Car # 40 Shawn Preston had the pole with car # 90 Mark Lamont on outside pole. Twenty one cars started the race. Car # 13 Ian Hunter, who started in 3rd position, got a quick jump on the lead at the green flag and quickly took the lead leaving # 40 Shawn in 2nd position. The first caution was thrown when # 76 Sean Durand lost an air filter and had to leave the track, he was back on, before the race was restarted. (I understand dad put that filter on, a little sabotage going on in the pits at the Durand race trailer?) Racing began again, but a second caution was thrown as a few cars spun out once again. As the race continued, # 13 Ian held a steady lead with # 90 Mark breathing down his neck. Another caution was called when # 11 Johann Schmidt lost a wheel and had to be removed from the track. While a great deal of passing went on through out the pack # 17 Craig Housden managed to worked his way up to 1st with # 29 Shane Butler finding his way into 2nd. Unfortunately, # 89 Sadie’s car came to an abrupt halt as it flipped up onto its side with some force in corner 3 and had to be removed from the track. # 89 Sadie did return before the race was over, unfortunately, not finishing in the top ten. Racing and cautions continued until the checkered flag was thrown early (due to time constrictions) The winner was # 17 Craig Housden, with # 67 Bill Durand in 2nd. These two drivers fought hard for 1st place making this a pretty exciting race. Car# 72 Bob Kelly finished in 3rd, # 21 Ron Prince in 4th and # 76 Sean Durand in 5th. The Outlaw A Main started with # 32 Dan Laemers on pole and car # 62 Steve Burlotte on outside pole. # 32 Dan took the lead at the drop of the green flag and kept it for quite a few laps before # 36 Casey Cox took over the lead leaving #32 Dan in 2nd position. # 36 Casey had come up from his starting position of 6th. There were only a few cautions in the Outlaw race, one of which left car # 8 Ken Lewis facing the on coming traffic as his car spun out in corner 1. I asked him later how he felt about that and he just smiled and said “I had confidence in all the drivers and knew no one would hit me (I hoped)” as he chuckled and walked away. Shortly after that, the race took on an even more exciting turn as cars # 36 Casey and # 32 Dan raced 2 abreast and wheel to wheel for several laps as they struggled to see who would come out first. These two cars lapped car after car in their struggle to win, until 2/3’s of the field had been lapped. Finally the checkered flag dropped with car # 36 Casey Cox in 1st, # 32 Dan Laemers in 2nd, # 45 Curtis Gartly in 3rd, # 91 Kyle Watters in 4th and car # 44 Barry Dunn in 5th position. All the drivers seemed pretty tired Friday night, and I noticed quite a few taking a few minutes before they began pulling them selves out of their cars after the race. Racing is becoming quite competitive at the Wonderland Speedway and can take a lot out of some of these “older” guys. |

Sponsored by: Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines. Races were off to a great start last Friday night May 28 at the Wonderland Speedway. Eleven cars started the Micro B Main with #76 Sean Durand sitting in pole position and taking an early lead with the green flag. Sean, #76, held the lead until #203 Stan Adam’s car which was driven by Nathan Lloyd, came up through the pack and made a serious challenge on the lead position. #76 and #203 raced wheel to wheel for a few laps until #203, slipped past the #76 car. There were about 6 cautions caused by various cars spinning out as they got back into the racing mode after the long long winter. To recap; the top 10 cars from the Micro B Main move on to the Micro A Main. First, second and third were #203, #76 and #89 driven by Saddie Bennett a young lady is also a rookie this year. Great going Saddie, first race in the Micros and you picked up 3rd place in the Micro B Main! The Outlaw B Main had a total of 10 cars starting the race, with all 10 cars expected to move on to the Outlaw A Main. Norm Brunette, # 11, had pole on Friday night with # 45 Curtis Gartly on outside pole. # 45 Curtis took an early lead and held it for several laps until the #02, owned by Hugh Smibert the track owner (driven by Mark Watson Friday night), came from the starting position of third to give #45 Curtis, a real challenge. They fought it out wheel to wheel while the rest of the pack constantly changed places behind them. There were several cautions and unfortunately the #02 car broke and had to leave the track, leaving the field wide open for #45 Curtis, # 62 Steve Burlotte and the #3 of Steve Wells pressuring each other for the lead. The race was finally won by #45 Curtis with #62 Steve Burlotte in second place and #3 of Steve Wells finishing in third place. Micro A Main The A Main for the Micros started with # 67 Bill Durand sitting in Pole position and # 27 Nathan Housdan sitting outside pole. It wasn’t long before # 27 Nathan took the lead with # 21 Ron Prince in second and # 67 Bill Durand close behind in third position. Again there were about 6 cautions with cars leaving the track and occasionally being able to return part way through the race. There was a lot of passing and a fairly clean race in general. Nathan # 27 held a steady lead through out the race and even had to fight off his own brother # 17 Craig Housdan for awhile. He eventually lost the lead to #17 Craig, who then lost the lead to # 203 Nathan Lloyd. The top five cars finishing the race were # 203 Nathan, #17 Craig, #27 Nathan H. #67 Bill and # 21 Ron Prince. Outlaw A Main The Outlaws started the year with a memorable first lap. First lap in corner one, 6 cars (and drivers) managed to become entangled in a MASSIVE pile up, with the # 46 car driven by Jake Miller doing a full spin on the nose of his car. He was hurting a bit as he got out of his car and was assisted to the ambulance for further examination. #32 Dan Laemers was lifted up on to the wagon with front end damage, # 97 Kenny Charboneau, #69 Andy Wells and # 62 Steve Burlotte all sustained damage and were removed from the track as well. Casey Cox #36 who was also caught up in the mishap was the only car able to continue on under his own power. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the end of the race. There were 10 survivors remaining to continue the race. Now there was a huge amount of passing up in the front of the pack with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th position changing constantly. The big bang of the evening came when # 37 Shawn Paul punched through the wall between corners 2 and 3 after apparently being assisted by another car. All in all this was a pretty exciting first night of racing which was the only thing keeping the fans in their seats, because it appeared to be MIGHTY cold up on that hill. Mrs. Smibert, I think you are going to need MORE coffee for Friday night racing for awhile. Thanks for being there ladies, you are always appreciated. |
