Wonderland Speedway September 17, 2005 - Driver's meeting - Hugh explained that the top 14 from the time trials would go straight to the A Mains and the rest would get their race positions from heat races. Hugh thanked everyone for being there this summer and asked that the drivers thank the sponsors and try to patronize them whenever they could.

The afternoon commenced with time trials. The #91 Kyle Watters had the fastest time trial time of 11:262 in the Outlaws and #25 Brook Chinnery with the fastest time of 11:638 in the Micros. The 100 Lap race began with an introduction of all the drivers to the spectators and a meet and greet of the drivers to the sponsors who were there Saturday afternoon giving the drivers a quick minute to say thanks to them.

The MICRO A MAIN was the first 100 lap race with #25 Brook Chinnery on pole and #13 Ian Hunter on outside pole. There were 21 cars starting the race. The drivers then strapped in and got ready to do their 4 wide salute to the fans. The racing then got underway at about 8:30 pm.

#13 Ian got the jump on #25 Brook taking an early lead putting distance between him and the #25 Brook who was busy putting distance between him and the rest of the field. This race was quickly shaping up to be a super fast race. After SEVERAL green laps the #13 Ian came off the track with engine problems leaving #25 Brook in first place, followed by #55 Jordan Hanna who now sat in 2nd place.

About 10 minutes into the race there still had not been ANY cautions. #25 Brook lapped cars at a tremendously fast rate as he worked his way through the field. Cars were dropping out for various problems without causing any cautions and at one point there were only about 14 cars still on the field. A caution finally came out as #19 Trevor Helle lost a wheel and left the track. (The officials frowned on 3 wheelers on the track). Number #25 Brook was being timed at 12:34 second laps.

A neck guard appeared on the track between corners 1 and 2 and sat there for many laps before it was noticed. Finally a caution was called for safety reasons so it could be returned to the driver who obviously didn't know it was missing as there were several laps made under caution before the culprit was found, #67 Bill Durand. Sheepishly he stopped to pick up the now pretty dirty neck guard and quickly put it back on. Because this was a safety issue, he was able to resume his position on the track without a penalty.

Shortly after this caution another one occurred in corner 4 as #203 Nathan Lloyd lost his two front wheels and #15 Michael Hanna rolled his car also catching the #89 Sadie Bennett. This all happened very quickly and unfortunately I was too far away to see the sequence of things. #15 Michael left the track but made it back on.

Brook #25 continued to hold the lead with a strong car keeping several lapped cars between him and 2nd place car of #55 Jordan.

The next caution came out as #16 Rick Bigg lost a wheel in corner 4, #89 Sadie left the track but made it back on before the race resumed. Apparently she was having brake problems. With everyone leaving and coming back (or not) Poor Wayne Stainton, our score keeper, must have been pulling his hair out trying to keep up to all the action of this 100 lapper. Racing continued with #40 Shawn Preston leaving with out causing a caution, #13 Ian left, no caution which left 16 cars on the track from the original 21.

Just at the half way point through the race, a caution came out as the #15 Michael got caught in the mud at the edge of the track on the inside and came to an abrupt halt. Now the top five cars on the lead lap were #25 Brook 1st, #79 Chad Baker 2nd, #76 Sean Durand 3rd , #17 Craig Housden 4th, #72 Bob Kelly 5thth.

The next caution came out as #11 Jason Martin hit the tires causing #85 T J Esler to spin into the infield on the front stretch #19 Trevor Helle left again at this point but got his place back in line.

There were 59 laps to go with #25 Brook still in 1st, #79 Chad Baker 2nd, #76 Sean Durand 3rd , #17 Craig Housden 4th, #72 Bob Kelly 5thth EVERYONE was driving hard and fast but relatively cleanly.

At lap #68, a caution came out for the #55 Jordan as he spun in corner 4 but he got his spot back and I believe #29 Shane Butler went to the back on that one. Suddenly #76 Sean Durand's car died and he left the track without causing a caution. Apparently the #76 Sean's clutch broke, effectively ending his racing for the night. He had come all the way back from Montreal where he is attending school for the weekend racing. At least he had a great race while his clutch was working.

The next caution was a red flag as #89 Sadie spun to miss #11 Jason who had hit #58 Chris Kolpin bringing both of them to a full stop in corner 4. Unfortunately for #89 Sadie, her brakes chose this moment to give out and she went into the tires in front of the fans between corners 3 and 4 at full speed, rolling her car and hitting the tires with quite an impact. #67 Bill Durand was also caught up in this as he spun and hitting the tires as he tried to miss #89 Sadie. #11 Jason left the track as well as, #58 Chris whose axle was destroyed. This left 13 cars on the track.

#25 Brook still held the lead with #79 Chad 2nd, #55 Jordan 3rd, #17 Craig 4th, and #72 Bob 5th. The other 9 cars were one or two laps down. #11 Jason had made it back on to the track but ran so hard after a few laps he ran himself right up into the infield where he stayed for the rest of the race.

Racing became even more intense as in corner 2, #79 Chad made a play for 1st place and rode side by side with the #25 Brook with #55 Jordan right behind them in 3rd place. Surprisingly enough, both #79 Chad and #25 Brook got blown away when #55 Jordan made it past them on the high side as they were struggling for 1st place. Then the #25 Brook began slowing down and was being passed by all the previously lapped cars, eventually leaving the track himself with a stripped gear.

The final caution of this race, came out in corner 4 shortly afterwards when #55 Jordan spun causing #6 Andrew Gartly to hit #27 Nathan Housden hard, also ensnaring the #16 Rick and #72 Bob in this pile up. #55 Jordan who had been running in 1st place then left the track.

With 3 laps to go, #79 Chad still held the lead, with #72 Bob in 2nd and #17 Craig 3rd. The race came to an end with only about 9 cars left on the track and #79 Chad Baker taking the checkered flag. Congratulations Chad. Great race!

The OUTLAW A MAIN also had a driver's introduction to the fans and to the sponsors before they got in to offer their own 4 wide salute to the fans. #91 Kyle Watters had inside pole with #6 Tyler Wilson on outside pole. Two laps into the race, a caution came out for the #02 Hugh Smibert who appeared to have suffered mechanical problems and was pushed off the track. #77 Josh Ackworth and #90 Mark Lamont had spun during this caution and both had to be pushed off the track. #49 Brad Duff also chose this time to leave the track.

This left 23 cars from the original 27 which started the race. On the restart #6 Tyler held the lead with #45 Curtis Gartly in 2nd. Cars were very quickly lapped #37 Shawn Paul's car which was being driven by Dean Parker tonight left the track with engine problems.

The remaining cars ran single file except for the #62 Steve Burlotte and #301 Ron Veroughstrate who ran side by side for a few laps. Cars were being lapped one right after the other as the #6 Tyler and #45 Curtis, #91 Kyle Watters and #32 Dan Laemers made their way around the track. Just as #45 Curtis took over the lead, #32 Dan left the track with mechanical problems. The top three were now #45 Curtis, #91 Kyle 2nd and #6 Tyler 3rd.

#91 Kyle bumped #4 Steve Wells quite hard as he was passing #4 Steve, pushing him down to the edge of the track between corners 1 and 2, but #4 Steve was able to hang on to the car and no caution was called.

Halfway through the race #45 Curtis and #91 Kyle ran side by side with #91 Kyle coming out ahead as he took over the lead. Meanwhile back in the field #8 Ken Lewis and #20 Mark Watson ran side by side. Back up in the front of the field, #6 Tyler tried riding side by side with the #45 Curtis. At this time #91 Kyle had come around and was trying to lap the #20 Mark but was having quite a hard time doing it.

Caution came out as #61 Justin Martin and #3 Matt Wells spun between corners 1 and 2 causing a huge reaction behind them. #44 Barry Dunn who had been coming down the track quite fast (guess he didn't see the caution yet) came into corner 1 and spun hitting the tires sending him up into the air just above the tires, and bouncing down onto the track hitting #36 Casey Cox doing quite a bit of damage to the #36's wing and header. #44 Barry kept on going and never stopped.

Racing resumed with #91 Kyle 1st, #45 Curtis 2nd, #6 Tyler 3rd. Wasn't long before another caution came out as #20 Mark broke on the front stretch. #37 Dean left the track still having engine problems, #36 Casey left and #62 Steve left as well. There were now 20 cars left on the track from the original 27 and most of these were lapped. As the race continued, #90 Mark left, #69 Andy Wells, #32 Dan, #0 D Lewis all left the track. There was such a long green flag that when a caution finally did come out, there were at least 6 cars waiting to come back on to the track.

A caution came out for #1 Holly Porter who spun with #6 Tyler in corner 2. #1 Holly went to the back on this one. Racing continued with #91 Kyle still in the lead but two laps later another caution came out for #8 Ken who spun in corner 1 when his car broke and he had to be pulled off. #44 Barry also left at this point.

With so many cars leaving and coming back on for this 100 lapper as well, I'm sure the score keeper Wayne was glad the season was almost to an end. The checkered flag did drop soon afterwards with #91 Kyle Watters crossing the line 1st. Congratulations Kyle, great ending to your season as well.

At this point I would like to thank Wayne Stainton for his assistance in updating the website and for such a "professional job" of score keeping. Great Job Wayne! To all the other volunteers of the track, great working with you all and thank you for your continued support at the races each week. To Terry Smibert, THANK YOU for those great burgers, saved me from making supper every Friday night (grin). To Hugh Smibert, thank you for your great hospitality. Without you and your family, Friday nights would be less interesting. To all the fans and racers, it's been a blast. Hope you enjoyed your race season and the recaps.

Have a safe and happy winter and hope to see you all again next spring.

Joy Durand

Wonderland Speedway September 9, 2005 - Driver's meeting:

Mainly a reminder that the gates will open at 2:00 next Saturday and Time Trials should begin around 5:00 pm. Racing will begin at 7:30 pm. A reminder to race smart and have fun, DO NOT TAKE OUT your fellow driver.

GUEST DRIVERS: We had three guest drivers tonight. The Outlaw #36 of Casey Cox was driven by Jamie Cox, the Micro #76 of Sean Durand was driven by Dean Parker and the Outlaw #62 of Steve Burlotte was driven by Bob Marr. The Micros had 24 cars and the Outlaws had a field of 28. Only 24 of the 28 Outlaws would be racing in the A Main.

The first A Main tonight was for the MICROS who had a starting field of 23 cars. Sitting on inside pole was the #17 Craig Housden with #203 of Nathan Lloyd at his side on outside pole. With the wave of the green flag, #203 Nathan got the jump on #17 Craig and quickly took the lead. #72 Bob Kelly left the track shortly after the race began.

The race continued with quite a few quick and dirty laps (dust not drivers) with #203 Nathan and #25 Brook Chinnery running side by side briefly before #25 Brook took over the lead. This put #203 Nathan in 2nd and #29 Shane Butler in 3rd and the #79 Chad Baker in 4th.

The first caution came out in corner 3 as #11 Jason Martin who was trying to pass #21 Ron Prince ended up driving right into the #21 Ron who then spun catching up #67 Bill Durand who ended up having his tire ripped off the car as his spindle was broken in the crash. He was then hit by the #58 Chris Kolpin who knocked the #67 Bill onto his side damaging his wing. Both the #67 Bill and #58 Chris were removed from the track and their race was finished for the night. #13 Ian Hunter also left the track on this caution but came back on. #11 Jason was able to continue racing but he did go to the back for causing this accident.

On the restart, #25 Brook still held the lead with #203 Nathan right behind him. There were another few quick laps before the 2nd caution of the race came out for #15 Michael Hanna who spun out in corner 2. He went to the back for his troubles.

Two laps later, the #79 Chad Baker broke on the front stretch, but was able to limp off without causing a caution. Meanwhile, #25 Brook seemed to be on fire (figuratively speaking) as he passed car after car. He took the checkered flag with ease with #203 Nathan close behind him. This was a really fast race and with only two cautions and was over very quickly.

Next up was the OUTLAW A MAIN. Sitting on pole was #20 Mark Watson who was getting in his 2nd of 3 races so that he could race the 100 Lapper this coming weekend. Sitting on outside pole was #12 Johann Schmidt. It was a green/yellow start as on the first lap in the first corner #37 Shawn Paul's had a bit of bad luck as a piece of his car that hold on his axle broke off bringing him to a quick stop. His race was over for the night and he was towed off the track.

This caution made for a complete restart. On the restart, going into the 2nd corner, cars were already running 3 abreast. #20 Mark took the lead with #44 Barry Dunn right behind him putting #12 Johann in 3rd place. The 2nd caution came out as the #3 Matt Wells spun in corner 4 as he had a run in with the #36 Jamie Cox. #36 Jamie went to the rear for this one.

Mark #20 continued to hold the lead with #44 Barry breathing down his neck the whole time. At one point all 23 cars were strung out nose to tail for several laps. Then with #44 Barry seemed to find a little bit more power and managed to run side by side with the #20 Mark trying hard to pass him to take over the lead. Wasn't long before #20 Mark and #44 Barry were putting some distance between them and the 3rd place car of #12 Johann who was being tailed by the #97 Ken Charboneau and #91 Kyle Watters. This group of three was trying to break off from the field as well.

The 2nd caution came in corner 4 as #46 Jake Miller broke and had to be pushed off. Before the race could be restarted, the #32 Dan Laemers pulled up beside the official in corner 4 to let him know that he had just be hit under caution. Apparently, the #6 Tyler Wilson hit the left rear wheel of the #32 Dan, snapping his axle in half. #32 Dan then had to be very slowly pushed off the track.

The racing continued with #20 Mark still in the lead closely shadowed by the #44 Barry. Before two many laps were completed, #4 Steve Wells broke in corner 4 as well. He had a lose screw on a rear shock which made his car feel like he had a flat so he left the track with causing a caution. #90 Mark Lamont also left at this time.

#20 Mark continued to lead with #44 Barry in 2nd, #97 Ken 3rd and #91 Kyle in 4th. #6 Tyler hit the front left tire hard of the #61 Justin Martin as he made a pass on the bottom. Not quite giving #61 Justin a lot of room. Great driving #61 Justin! He held on to the car and only swerved slightly as he kept on racing.

Corner 4 took another victim as the #02 Hugh Smibert broke down there and he was pulled off. Not sure what the situation was with #4 Hugh but there were not enough laps left in the race for him to make it back on the track.

As the race was almost over, #3 Matt and #62 Steve Burlotte were running side by side for a few laps trying hard to move up before the final lap. The race was won by #20 Mark Watson with #44 Barry Dunn in 2nd and #97 Ken Charboneau in 3rd.

All observations and opinions are my own made from my vantage point in the pits. They are not necessarily the opinion of the track owner or officials. J. Durand

Wonderland Speedway August 26, 2005 – Driver’s meeting – This was a meeting to be taken very seriously. There has been a great deal of carnage this past season and even a few physical injuries. Therefore, the track owner Hugh Smibert and track officials have decided that “ANYONE WHO IS DRIVING AGGRESSIVELY” and causes damage to another car either through deliberate intent or carelessness will be given a suspension. They have found that suspension works. The officials are even considering cutting down and going to only 16 cars in the features if they have to. It was STRESSED repeatedly, this is for fun only. If you are given a spot after a caution TAKE IT. End of discussion. Bottom line, (as per track owner and officials) LISTEN UP – PAY ATTENTION – HAVE FUN!

Now on to the race recap. This evening’s racing began with the first of twin 30 lap races for the Outlaws. The OUTLAW A MAIN’s first race started with 25 cars. Darin Hanna of the #24 sat on inside pole and #37 Shawn Paul held outside pole. At the drop of the green flag, the cars took off to a roaring start with #24 Darin in the lead only to be shut down again before the second lap was completed by a caution where #4 Steve Wells and #44 Barry Dunn came together on the infield. Result - #4 Steve and #44 Barry went to the back along with the #24 Darin who had left the track briefly, leaving #37 Shawn as the leader.

On the restart, #37 Shawn was 1st, #62 Steve Burlotte 2nd, and #91 Kyle Watters 3rd. Once again, it was a quick lap and then caution as between corner 3 and 4 there was a multiple pile up when  #62 Steve Burlotte who had been sitting in 2nd made it past the #37 Shawn and was spun by the #37 Shawn which resulted in nine cars all coming to an abrupt halt. Result - #62 Steve got his spot back and the #37 Shawn went to the back. He left the track briefly but then returned.

Next restart had the #62 Steve still in 1st, #91 Kyle in 2nd and #31 Adrian Kemps sitting in 3rd. Back in the field #6 Tyler Wilson, #32 Dan Laemers were working hard to move up to the front. #62 Steve held the lead with #91 Kyle right behind him as they began putting distance between them and the rest of the field. Cars were quickly lapped, the #37 Shawn, #11 Norm Brunette and the #24 Darin. Next caution was called as #24 Darin got out of control in corner 4 narrowly missing the corner man, Ron Bishop. #24 Darin was sent to the back. Meanwhile, #37 Shawn left the track once again but made it back on before the green flag was dropped.

Racing restarted with #62 Steve sitting firm in 1st, #91 Kyle safe in 2nd, #301 Ron Veroughstrate now in 3rd , #6 Tyler 4th and #32 Dan 5th. At the tail end of the field, #37 Shawn, #11 Norm and #24 Darin were running 2 and 3 a breast. At one point, #24 Darin and the #0 D Lewis were running side by side with #91 Kyle and #62 Steve running side by side RIGHT BEHIND THEM. This little group of four made a couple of laps until a caution came out for the #69 Andy Wells who spun on the front stretch and who then took his place up in the back.

Top five cars held their positions for several laps and the rest of the field strung out nose to tail taking up ¾‘s of the track as the racing continued until the next caution.  #44 Barry was spun in corner 2 by the #12 Johann Schmidt who was then sent to the back.

Kevin Moore #64 broke and left the track bringing out a caution as he limped off. #45 Curtis Gartly also broke and was pushed off during the same caution. Unfortunately for the #64 Kevin, even with his quick fix, he could not quite make it back on the track before the green flag and was left sitting at the #2 entrance.

With only a few laps to go, racing continued. #301 Ron had a  bit of back luck as he was bumped by the #6 Tyler and lost his chain, #301 Ron rode high out of the traffic and made it off without assistance with only 3 laps to go.

Steve Burlotte #62 took the checkered flag, with #91 Kyle 2nd, #6 Tyler 3rd. This race ended at 9:10 pm.

MICRO A MAIN began at 9:15 pm. Chad Baker #79 had inside pole and #203 Nathan Lloyd sat on outside pole. Race began with #79 Chad getting the lead but was shut down as a huge crash occurred on corner 2 on the 2nd lap. Cars involved were #72 Bob Kelly, #67 Bill Durand, #15 Michael Hanna, #19 Trevor Helle, #16 Rick Bigg, #58 Chris Kolpin, #27 Nathan Housden, #40 Shawn Preston, and #25 Brook Chinnery. #27 Nathan ended up on top of #72 Bob and our four wheeler angel had to use a great deal of force to untangle these two. Cars that left the track from this debacle were #40 Shawn, #85 Sadie Bennett (not directly involved), #15 Michael, #73 Bob, #19 Trevor, #27 Nathan and the #15 Michael. This happened so quickly that neither I nor my colleague in the stands was able to determine the original cause of the accident.

Racing resumed with #79 Chad 1st, #203 Nathan 2nd, #76 Sean Durand 3rd, #31 Brent Kemps 4th and #17 Craig Housden 5th. Bob #72 and #19 Trevor tried to make it back on before the start but didn’t quite make it and sat at the entrance in corner 2. They didn’t have to wait long as the next caution came out for #79 Chad who spun in corner 4. After, I would assume, some quick discussion, the officials DID NOT send anyone to the back as they could not establish who was the actual culprit here and decided to give the top few cars a break. (Almost unheard of but happens occasionally I am told).

Racing continued with #79 Chad 1st, #203 Nathan 2nd, #76 Sean 3rd, #55 Jordan Hanna now sat in 4th and #31 Brent was back in 5th. Once again, cars were running side by side in groups of four. These were #79 Chad, #203 Nathan with #76 Sean and #55 Jordan right behind them. You have to have a lot of confidence in the drivers around you to run this close and there is no room for error.

Caution #3 occurred in corner 3 when #11 Jason Martin, #67 Bill, #72 Bob and #58 Chris came together. #72 Bob went to the back for this caution.

With the resumption of the race, there was a slight change in the top five cars as #79 Chad still held 1st, #203 Nathan still held 2nd, but #55 Jordan now held 3rd putting #76 Sean into 4th and #31 Brent still sitting in 5th. The restart went Green/Yellow as a caution came out for the #11 Jason who spun again in corner 4. He left the track.

AS the racing continued there was another slight change in the top five cars just past half way, with #79 Chad 1st, #55 Jordan in 2nd, #76 Sean moved up to 3rd, Nathan #203 fell back to 4th and #13 Ian Hunter now moved up to 5th.  The next caution came out as #15 Michael rode high to the wall and spun out by him self, down across the track right in front of the leaders. His car did not appear to be handling well since the first caution. He was then BLACK FLAGGED and left the track.

This was a VERY fast race with cars racing very tightly together. At one point, the leader #79 Chad and #55 Jordan were running side by side at the front of the field. #13 Ian who did not seem to be running well, slowed right down and stayed low on the track in the main groove quickly becoming a slow moving pylon for the cars to go around. He finally made his way off the track after a few laps. Shortly afterwards a caution came out for #25 Brook who spun in corner 2 and was sent to the rear of the field.

With only 7 laps to go #55 Jordan took over the lead from #79 Chad, and began to quickly put distance between him and the #79 Chad who was trying to put distance between him and the #76 Sean. The race ended with #55 Jordan Hanna taking the checkered flag, #79 Chad Baker 2nd and 76 Sean Durand in 3rd. #13 Ian had tried to come back on to the track but the race ended without another caution which would have been his opening. Race finished at 9:35 pm.

The second OUTLAW A MAIN began pretty much like the first one with a quick caution just after the green flag. #12 Johann Schmidt held inside pole with #97 Ken Charboneau on outside pole. With the start of the race, #12 Johann took the  lead but his lead was cut short as a massive crash occurred. Steve Burlotte #62 and #44 Barry Dunn came together causing #44 Barry to get airborne and go off the track. This possibly happened as there were quite a few slower cars in the front of the field for the start of the race causing the faster cars in the middle and back to get boxed up and tangled together. Barry #44 came back on to the track, #301 Ron Veroughstrate also left the track and came back on.

Racing continued, fast and furious with a tremendous amount of dust flying as the cars made their way around the track lap after lap. #24 Darin Hanna left the track with out causing a caution.

Half way through the race the top five cars were #69 Andy Wells 1st, #12 Johann 2nd, #4 Steve Wells 3rd, #46 Jake Miller 4th and #02 Hugh Smibert 5th.  The next caution came out as #90 Mark Lamont bounced up on to the infield and had to be pushed off the track, #8 Ken Lewis went to the back for this incident. #301 Ron left the track once again but made it back on before racing resumed.

The top five cars remained the same through out the race with quite a bit of bumping and passing going on in the rest of the field. This continued to be a very fast race. On one lap, #91 Kyle Watters, passed under the #32 Dan Laemers as #31 Adrian Kemps passed on the high side of #32 Dan. Three wide is still not a really good idea for this track, but I guess some drivers haven’t quite figured that out yet. In any case #91 Kyle came out of this sandwich first and went a head of #32 Dan, but it didn’t work out so well for the #31 Adrian, as he ended up behind the #32 Dan.

The last caution of the night came out as #11 Norm Brunette broke down on the back stretch and had to be pushed off the track. When the race was restarted, #69 Andy who was running in 1st quickly began putting distance between him and the 2nd place car of #12 Johann who was busy putting distance between him and 3rd place car #4 Steve. #46 Jake who was in 4th was busy breathing down #4 Steve’s neck as he also tried to ward off the 5th place car of #2 Hugh Smibert. All in all, these drivers were working it hard to finish this race in the top 5 positions and this order was how they crossed under the checkered flag. Congratulations go out to #69 Andy Wells who won and to #4 Steve Wells, his dad who finished 3rd. The Wells Foundry team had a great race tonight.

Wonderland Speedway August 19, 2005 - Driver's meeting - run down of tonight's racing and an introduction to Terry Wolfe of Wolfworx, one of four sponsors for tonight's racing. Also acknowledged was Mark Watson of Mark Watson Trucking also one of tonight's sponsors.

Guest drivers; Mark Watson who drove the Micro #203 owned by Stan Adams. The Micro #27 owned by Nathan Housden was driven Kenny Charboneau.

Tonight was a special night that should have happened last week, but Mother Nature had other plans for the Wonderland Speedway. Tonight was the Twin 30's for the Micros and next week, August 26th, will be the Twin 30's for the Outlaws.

The night began with the first of two MICRO A MAINs which started at approximately 8:50 pm. #76 Sean Durand had inside pole and #31 Brent Kemps sat on outside pole. With the drop of the checkered flag, #76 Sean got the lead with #79 Chad Baker right behind him and #31 Brent right beside Chad. The first caution came out right on the first lap as #40 Shawn Preston bogged on the start and held up the cars behind him. On the restart, #79 Chad took the lead with #76 Sean and #72 Bob Kelly fighting for position right behind Chad. A quick caution once again as #203 driven by Mark Watson hit the tires (I assume) and rolled over THREE TIMES on the front stretch doing a pretty good remodeling job of the #203's wing. Mark appeared a little disorientated but unhurt as he climbed from the car and left the track. #11 Jason Martin also left the track at this time. The total of cars now went from the starting number of 21 to 19.

On the restart, #79 Chad sat in 1st, #72 Bob in 2nd, #76 Sean 3rd, #31 Brent 4th and #21 Ron Prince in 5th. It was obvious we had a full moon tonight as we once again went from a restart to a caution, when #24 Mike Huehn lost a wheel and spun about NINE 360's on the front stretch. I heard a comment in the crowd wondering if he was going to lose his supper after that ride. #49 Dana Duff spun to miss #24 Mike. The #24 left the track for repairs and I'm sure some Rolaids.

Now, the racing continued with 18 cars. #79 Chad still sat in 1st, #72 Bob in 2nd, #76 Sean in 3rd only to be shut down again as a caution came out for #27  who got some serious air as the car flipped up about 10 feet into the air, right in front of Mr. Wayne Vary (flag man) flipping several times from nose to tail before coming to land back down on the track with a very hard thud. The car was seriously damaged and the driver was escorted to the ambulance to be checked out. Other cars also caught up in this amazing accident were the #00 Caleb Woods, #15 Michael Hanna, #16 Rick Bigg, #29 Shane Butler, #13 Ian Hunter, #67 Bill Durand, #17 Craig Housden and many many more. It all came down to the fact that there were just too many cars trying to race in too small a place all at the same time. Of all of these, the #16 Rick left the track, #6 Andrew Gartly was pushed off but came back on. The rest stayed on the track.

We were now down to 17 cars with the same top three still in the lead. Within a few laps #79 Chad and #72 Bob were beginning to put some distance between them and #76 Sean who had problems of his own as #31 Brent, #21 Ron and #55 Jordan Hanna all were putting some serious pressure on the #76 Sean to get past him. At times they were running 3 abreast right behind him, but #76 Sean kept his cool and held them off. The next caution came out when #15 Michael spun on the front stretch up into the infield.

Racing continued with some pretty wild passing in the field and got really interesting as #55 Jordan went on one side of the #76 Sean and #31 Brent went on the other side him forcing a 3 abreast racing for a bit. Not something that is recommended on the track due to lack of room, but I guess these two decided to try anyway. The outcome was they got past the #76 Sean. The line up now was, #79 Chad 1st, #72 Bob 2nd, #55 Jordan 3rd, #31 Brent 4th and some how #21 Ron snuck past #76 Sean to put himself in 5th which put the #76 Sean into 6th.

Racing continued without incident for several laps until a caution came out in corner 2 for the #6 Andrew Gartly who spun all by him self. He went to the rear of the field on that one. Racing continued with even more passing and bumping for position until the final caution came out in corner 4 as #15 Michael spun again and went to the back. This race ended with #79 Chad Baker 1st, #72 Bob Kelly 2nd, #55 Jordan Hanna 3rd at 9:20 pm. The field was to be inverted for the next race.

The OUTLAW A MAIN got underway at 9:25 pm. The field consisted of 25 cars with #46 Jake Miller on inside pole and #4 Steve Wells on outside pole. With the drop of the checkered flag, #4 Steve got the lead with #62 Steve Burlotte, #46 Jake and #45 Curtis Gartly all chasing him down hard.

First caution came as #4 Steve and #46 Jake caught their front wheels together in corner 2 and came to an abrupt halt. Several cars spun to miss them and a few crashed into the tires near the pits and all became a huge bottle neck right across the track. #4 Steve went to the back on that one.

#46 Jake now held the lead with #45 Curtis 2nd, #49 Brad Duff 3rd. #46 Jake and #45 Curtis battling out hard for 1st position when a caution came out for #12 Johann Schmidt who spun high between corners 1 & 2. He was able to bring it around and continue racing but the officials thought it would be best if he went to the rear of the field. #20 Mark Watson also left at this point.

The number was now down to 20 cars with #46 Jake in 1st, #45 Curtis 2nd and now #91 Kyle Watters in 3rd, quite a bit of bumping and passing and 2 and 3 abreast was going on as everyone fought for positions. This continued until a caution was called for #24 Darrin Hanna who spun on the front stretch and went to the back of the field. #20 Mark Watson came back on at this point, several laps down.

#91 Kyle and #45 Curtis continued to pressure #46 Jake for the lead but he held them off. With 11 laps into the race, another caution came out as #77 Josh Achworth, #12 Johann, #37 Sean Paul all got caught up together between corners 3 & 4. #77 Josh went to the back for causing the disturbance. #301 Ron Veroughstrate left (not part of this accident but made it back on) and #12 Johann left the track.

Racing resumed with the same top three cars while #301 Ron dealing with mechanical problems, left the track again without causing a caution. The next caution did come out when #49 Brad Duff went across the track in corner 1 knocking #31 Adrian Kemps into the infield and catching the #8 Ken Lewis up behind them. I assume #49 Brad had experienced a mechanical failure, as he was pushed off the track. #31 Adrian was also pushed off the track.

Just before half way, #45 Curtis took over the lead, #91 Kyle was 2nd and #3 Matt Wells 3rd. Racing roared on with cars driving 2 abreast and bumping and fighting for position. The next caution came for #90 Mark Lamont, who spun between 1 & 2 by himself and went to the back of the bus. #02 Hugh Smibert left the track but make it back on before the restart.

With 9 laps to go, #45 Curtis continued in 1st, #91 Kyle 2nd, #3 Matt 3rd and all was well until the caution came out in corner 2 for #77 Josh and #20 Mark who came together and both spinning out. #20 Mark went to the back.

The third to last caution came as #62 Steve and #44 Barry Dunn got their tires caught together in corner 2. BOTH were sent to the back for misbehaving.

Five laps to go, #45 Curtis continued to lead with #91 Kyle in 2nd and #3 Matt still sitting in 3rd. Before one full lap was completed from this last restart, a caution came out as #02 Hugh spun to miss #24 Darin who had spun. #24 Darin found himself at the back of the field.

#36 Casey Cox, #6 Tyler Wilson and #32 Dan Laemers who had all been running 4th, 5th and 6th respectively decided to spice things up a bit and started running side by side by side, 3 abreast. This was quite a show until a caution came out for an accident on the back wall. #69 Andy Wells who had been going high to pass, lost control and hit the wall pretty hard. #4 Steve, #8 Ken and #62 Steve Burlotte all spun to miss him. The race was called at this point as it was 10:00 pm and there was still the 2nd MICRO A MAIN to run. The winner of this race was #45 Curtis Gartly, #91 Kyle Watters 2nd and #3 Matt Wells 3rd.

The second MICRO A MAIN of the night began with #16 Rick Bigg on pole and #15 Michael Hanna on outside pole. #17 Craig Housden's car who was supposed to be in 5th position actually became the #27, Nathan Housden's car and started at the back. This change occurred because Craig is a good brother and gave his car to brother Nathan who was currently running 2nd in points. Now THAT is sportsmanship. Unless of course, Craig was actually gagged and bound and left sitting behind their trailer. (Joke)

The race began with #16 Rick taking the lead but was quickly shut down as a caution came out for #11 Jason Martin who had to have had the most unusual flip I have ever seen. His car flipped in corner 4 when it was hit, but it flipped up backwards leaving him sitting on the TAIL of his car with only his wing stopping him from toppling totally over. I bet he dared not breathe in case he rolled it sideways before the officials could get to him. He was eventually flipped back down onto his wheels and was able to continue racing. Now, this accident occurred, as #72 Bob Kelly had slide sideways and everyone else spun to miss him. Unfortunately someone didn't miss the #11 Jason and hit him in such a way as to flip his car up backwards. Not really sure how that happened. Cars involved were #24 Mike Huehn, #27 Housden, #00 Caleb Woods, #72 Bob Kelly and the #11 Jason. #72 Bob left the track, #24 Mike was pushed off and #27 Housden was pushed off with a VERY BENT AXLE. Guess he had some explaining to do to his brother Craig now. Full moon guys, full moon. Why else would you have the bad luck to trash two cars in one night?

Racing resumed with #16 Rick still in the lead, #15 Michael 2nd and #6 Andrew Gartly sitting in 3rd. One lap, one caution as #49 Dana Duff who was hit by the wingless #203 Stan Adams' car was spun in corner 2. #11 Jason spun to miss the #49 Dana. #203 Stan (Mark Watson) went to the back.

Racing continued with quite a bit of excitement happening in the middle of the field as #89 Sadie Bennett and #76 Sean Durand were running side by side in the 5th position, with #76 Sean finally making it past the #89 Sadie. #16 Rick, #15 Michael and #6 Andrew began putting distance between them and the field. #15 Michael even got the lead away from the #16 Rick. The race was really cooking until a caution came out for the poor ill fated #11 Jason who spun between corner 2 & 3 and had to go to the back of the bus.

Top three leaders remained the same until ANTOHER quick caution came out for a FLYING TIRE. #31 Brent Kemps lost a tire and I don't think he realized it as he kept on racing while his tire decided to roll with quite some speed through corner 1 and coming to rest as it hit the tires in corner 2. Obviously when #31 Brent discovered his lack of rubber, he left the track for a quick repair.

#13 Ian Hunter who had not been running well (mechanically) for the whole previous lap, finally pulled up into the infield when the caution came out for #11 Jason who spun once again between corners 1 & 2 and went back to the back for the second time. #13 Ian was pushed off the track at this point.

Back to the racing, there were only 15 cars left from the original 21. #15 Michael held the lead, #16 Rick remained in 2nd and #6 Andrew remained in 3rd. All the cars were running aggressively tonight trying to get those much needed points.

Halfway in the race there was a slight change with the leaders, as #15 Michael still held 1st, but #55 Jordan Hanna was now in 2nd putting #16 Rick into 3rd. With a few laps to go, #76 Sean spun in corner 3 as he had come around from fighting his way past the #40 Shawn Preston. There was no caution called, but #76 Sean went to the back on his own.

Racing was called with a caution/white/checkered as it was 10:30 pm and #49 Dana Duff spun on the front stretch. The winner of this second Micro A Main was #15 Michael Hanna, #55 Jordan Hanna 2nd, #6 Andrew Gartly 3rd.

All observations and opinions are my own made from my vantage point in the pits. They are not necessarily the opinion of the track owner or officials.    J. Durand

Wonderland Speedway August 5, 2005 - Driver's meeting - a new but old system is being retried for mudding in the track. This week the mud laps will be done by "EVEN NUMBERED" cars and after the next watering - all cars that are in the next two races will mud the track in. Next week, the "ODD NUMBERED" cars will mud the track in. If you don't step up, you will be noticed and personally invited by the track owner to get your car out there.

There has been some dissension in the pits and it is asked that SHOULD you have a problem, GO TO "A" driver's rep and explain your concern in a reasonable manner. Your concern will then be taken to the officials and a suitable solution found if possible. DO NOT TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS.

Winners of the B Mains - #31 Adrian Kemps - Outlaw, and #15 Michael Hanna - Micro, tonight got an extra prize from the night's sponsor, N.C.K Cycle Salvage. They were given either a container of Chain Lube or a container of Air Filter Oil for winning their B Mains.

Guest drivers were; Outlaws #24 of Darin Hanna was driven by Willie Northcott and Chris Pyle. The #62 of Bob Marr was driven by Jordan Hanna who also drove his own Micro #55.

OUTLAW A MAIN began at 9:30 with 26 cars. #1 Holly Porter sat on inside pole and #46 Jake Miller was on outside pole. #1 Holly was quick to take the lead but was shut down on the next lap as the first caution came out when #24 Willie Northcott lost it on corner 2 causing #301 Ron Veroughstrate and #0 D Lewis to spin out with him. #0 D Lewis went to the back of the pack on that one.

Before the cars could complete a lap, #37 Sean Paul broke and limped off the tack without a caution. A second caution was called, when a massive crash occurred in corner 4 also bringing out the Red Flag. #4 Steve Wells suffered a ruptured gas tank as he was hit by several cars which included the #90 Mark Lamont who left the track, #12 Johann Schmidt (left) and #36 Casey Cox who also left the track. #11 Norm Brunette left, but made it back on before the restart. On the restart, #4 Steve was out for the night, #36 Casey went to the back of the field joined by #0 D Lewis and #37 Sean Paul who came back on the track.

On the restart #45 Curtis Gartly, quickly took the lead away from #1 Holly but only got a few laps in before the next caution was called for #77 Josh Ackworth who spun in corner 2 and went to the back for that caution. #11 Norm left for quick repairs and made it back on again before the restart.

The next restart found #45 Curtis in 1st, #1 Holly in 2nd and #46 Jake Miller in 3rd until the next yellow came out for #37 Sean who got caught up with #12 Johann between corners 3 and 4. #12 Johann left the track and #37 Sean went to the back of the field.

Restart found #45 Curtis in 1st, #1 Holly in 2nd but #46 Jake who was in 3rd, left the track with mechanical problems now putting #44 Barry Dunn in 3rd. Next caution came with #77 Josh, #301 Ron Veroughstrate, and #24 Willie had a problem between corners 3 and 4. #77 Josh went to the rear of the field along with #24 Willie and the #301 Ron left the track.

New restart found #45 Curtis in 1st, #1 Holly 2nd and now the #6 Tyler Wilson in 3rd. #45 Curtis began putting some distance between him and the field as he began to lap cars. Suddenly #45 Curtis broke and left the track via corner 4 without a caution and #6 Tyler who had been working hard to pass #1 Holly took over the lead.

As the race ended with #6 Tyler Wilson taking the checkered flag, #1 Holly Porter in 2nd and #62 Steve Burlotte taking 3rd a HUGH crash occurred between corners 1 and 2 before the rest of the field crossed over the finish line. The cars involved were #77 Josh, #90 Mark, #0 D Lewis, #24 Willie, #11 Norm and the #8 Ken Lewis who got the worst of the accident when his car rolled and he landed on his wing upside down. There was considerable damage done to the #8 Ken but he himself was mainly bruised and sore.

The race ended at approximately 10:00 pm 30 minutes after it had begun.

MICRO A MAIN began at 10:05 with 20 cars. #27 Nathan Housden sat on the inside pole with #19 Trevor Helle outside pole. With the drop of the starter's flag, #27 Nathan got the lead and was followed by #76 Sean Durand who took over the 2nd place very quickly passing two other cars to do it. A few laps into the race, the first caution came when #15 Michael Hanna went up onto the infield in corner 2. He just stayed at the back where he was at that time.

As the race continued, #27 Nathan continued to hold the lead, with #76 Sean breathing hard down his neck from 2nd place and constantly looking for an opening around the #27 Nathan. The next caution came when #11 Jason Martin spun in corner 2 causing #29 Shane Butler to spin to miss him. #11 Jason went to the rear of the field.

The race was restarted with #27 Nathan still sitting in 1st, #76 Sean still sitting in 2nd, #19 Trevor Helle in 3rd and #25 Brook Chinnery in 4th. The next caution came with a horrendous crash on the back stretch as #11 Jason spun causing several cars to check up which included #29 Shane, #15 Michael, #6 Andrew Gartly, #31 Brent Kemps who rolled and hit the wall HARD and then was hit on the bottom of his car as he lay on his side by #24 Mike Huehn. #24 Mike was taken to the Ambulance for a quick check up and #31 Brent assisted the track officials in removing the #24 car, BEFORE he then helped them remove his own car from the track.

The restart continued with the same top four cars until the next caution came out for #89 Sadie Bennett who spun in corner 2 and went to the rear of the field. #11 Jason also spun but he was already at the back of the pack but was then joined by #85 T J Esler who had left the track and just then came back on.

The top four cars were now, #27 Nathan - 1st, #76 Sean- 2nd, #25 Brook - 3rd and #19 Trevor now in 4th. Quick lap to find another caution in corner 4 as #55 Jordan spun and was sent to the back. Another lap then caution as #85 T J Esler and #11 Jason spun in corner 2. #11 Jason went to the rear for that.

New top four became #27 Nathan 1st, #76 Sean 2nd, #25 Brook 3rd and #13 Ian Hunter in 4th. Once again it was a quick few laps until a caution came out for #55 Jordan who spun in corner 4 and went to the back.

With 6 laps to go, #27 Nathan still held the lead with #76 Sean still sitting in 2nd, #13 Ian now worked his way up to 3rd and #25 Brook sat in 4th.

Racing continued without further incident with #27 Nathan Housden taking the checkered flag, #13 Ian Hunter taking 2nd and #76 Sean Durand taking 3rd. This was quite the race with a lot of passing but a lot of cautions as well. The race ended approximately at 10:35.

Wonderland Speedway July 15, 2005 – Driver’s meeting – Next week, July 22, 2005, there will be no racing but there will be racing on July 29, 2005.

It has also come to the Official’s notice that there are a number of cars that ARE NOT DOING MUD LAPS. Come on guys, be fair and do you share, don’t make the Officials have to come and speak to you individually.

There was only one guest drive tonight and that was in the Outlaw car #2 of Hugh Smibert (track owner). His car was driven by #67 Bill Durand who also drove his own car in these twin 75 lap races. There were 22 Micros tonight and 25 Outlaws.

The OUTLAW A MAIN began with the scratch of #49 Jake Miller who had mechanical problems. #1 Holly Porter had inside pole with #36 Casey Cox on outside pole. The 75 lap race opened with all 24 cars doing a 4 wide salute to the fans and was as impressive as always. Well done "Drivers”.

When the green flag dropped at 9:12 pm #97 Ken Charboneau had an engine problem and brought out the first caution before the 1st lap was completed. He was pushed from the track and had to park it for the night. Tough luck Ken, better luck next week. On the restart, #36 Casey Cox got the lead, quickly lapping several cars, some of them quite a few times. He was off and running with #1 Holly Porter and #4 Steve Wells working hard to catch up to him.

The next caution came around lap 18 as #77 Josh Achworth went up into the infield by corner #2. On the restart, #36 Casey still held the lead, with #1 Holly in 2nd, # 4 Steve in 3rd, #62 Justin Martin in 4th and #32 Dan Laemers in 5th

On lap 22, #61 Justin went up into the infield but no caution was called until #91 Kyle Watters, #3 Matt Wells, #8 Ken Lewis, #37 Shawn Paul, and #11 Norm Brunette were all caught up together on the front stretch. #37 Shawn left the track, but came back on and # 91 Kyle was pushed off the track.

Next caution came at lap 27 when #37 Shawn and #77 Josh came together. #37 Shawn went to the rear and #77 Josh was pushed off. #6 Tyler Wilson went off but came back on before the green flag. On the restart, #36 Casey still held the lead, with #32 Dan now in 2nd, #4 Steve in 3rd, #45 Curtis Gartly in 4th and #1 Holly in 5th

#32 Dan and #36 Casey fought for several laps for the lead until the next caution came out at lap 33 as #69 Matt Wells, #62 Justin and #44 Barry Dunn came together flipping the #44 Barry who then had to leave the track due to damages.

Another caution came soon afterwards as #02 Bill spun between 3 & 4 and went to the rear. #44 Barry came back on and went to the rear and #4 Steve broke and left the track just before the caution came out.

Half way through the race #36 Casey, #32 Dan and #45 Curtis were running close together as they passed car after car. #11 Norm had problems and rode high until he could get to the exit. Next caution came when #69 Matt Wells hit a car and spun in corner 2 and found himself at the rear.

Lap 53, #36 Casey was still in the lead, #45 Curtis was 2nd and #32 Dan 3rd. Caution came out once again as #3 Adrian Kemps’ pipe starting blowing debris onto the tack and he had to leave. There were at least 6 lapped cars now and several cars retired for the night, leaving 17 cars on the track from the original 24.

Caution came out as #69 Matt broke and slowed down before he could get off the track. Quickly followed by another caution, as #44 Barry went up into the infield and then back to the rear. #36 Casey was still in 1st, followed by #45 Curtis in 2nd and #32 Dan in 3rd

At lap #66 a green/caution as #6 Tyler broke and had to be pushed off the track. #301 Ron Veroughstrate had problems and rode high to leave the track. On lap #69 caution came as #02 Bill, #64 Kevin Moore and #44 Barry got together pushing the #02 Bill into the tires on the front stretch. #64 Kevin was pushed off and #44 Barry left, the 02 Bill was able to continue in his original place, #11 Norm left as well.

There were now 13 cars left on the track with the #36 Casey Cox taking the checkered flag after leading the whole race, #45 Curtis Gartly took 2nd and #32 Dan Laemers took 3rd. The race ended at approximately 9:55 pm.

The MICRO A MAIN began at 10:05 with #76 Sean Durand sitting on the pole and #79 Chad Baker on outside pole. With the drop of the green flag, #76 Sean got the lead only to be shut down again as #19 Trevor Helle broke on the front stretch which caused a bit of chain reaction as #15 Michael Hanna spun in corner 1 and #203 Nathan Lloyd was unable to avoid hitting him. #72 Bob Kelly left the track but came back on.

There was a complete restart with #72 Bob going to the rear. #76 Sean once again got the lead closely followed by #25 Brook Chinnery in 2nd, #79 Chad in 3rd and #31 Brent Kemps in 4th as this small group put distance between them and the field.

Next caution came when #40 Shawn Preston, #203 Nathan, #15 Michael, and #6 Andrew Gartly all came together in corner 1 with #15 Michael hitting the #6 Andrew which caused the #6 to hit the tires and get some serious air as he flipped end over end before coming down on the tires at the entrance to the track in corner 2 and landing on his side. The driver of  #6 Andrew left the track angrily leaving his car for others to put on the wagon and remove it from the track. The #15 Michael went to the back of the line.

Racing continued with #76 Sean STILL in the lead, #25 Brook fighting hard to take over the lead but always lost #76 Sean after a lap or two as #76 Sean was able to put some distance between them until the next caution. #79 Chad held 3rd and #31 Brent was still in 4th, with #13 Ian Hunter moving up to 5th followed by #67 Bill Durand in 6th

On lap 23 a caution was called as #79 Chad spun in corner 4 and had to go to the rear. #19 Trevor came back on at that point. The line up now, had #76 Sean still in 1st, #25 Brook in 2nd, #13 Ian in 3rd and #67 Bill in 4th followed now by the #55 Jordan Hanna in 5th

#25 Brook was pushing hard and running side by side with #76 Sean trying to take over the 1st place until a caution came out as the #19 Trevor and #72 Bob came together and hit the wall. #11 Jason went up into the infield and #203 Nathan spun into the tires at corner 1. #19 Trevor went to the rear for this one.

At the half way, caution came for #40 Shawn Preston as he spun in corner 1 and went to the rear. #15 Michael left the track before the green came out but was unable to make it back on in time. #89 Sadie Bennett also left the track at this time. #76 Sean still sat in 1st place with #25 Brook in 2nd, #13 Ian in 3rd and #67 Bill in 4th and now #203 Nathan sat in 5th.

There was another caution almost immediately as #40 Shawn spun again just after corner 2 as the leader #76 Sean was passing him. #76 Sean spun himself trying to avoid the #40 Shawn. #40 Shawn went to the rear.

Once again there was a Green/Yellow as #89 Sadie who had made it back on, spun into the infield between corners 2 and 3 and went to the rear of the field.  The top 5 cars remained the same through the next caution when #11 Jason spun between corner 3 and 4.

With less than 10 laps to go and having lead for the whole race up to now, #76 Sean Durand had a bad break as he blew a chain on the front stretch causing his back wheels to lock up and spinning him into the tires and hitting them hard with his front left tire also breaking a spindle in corner 1.

The #25 Brook now had the lead with #13 Ian in 2nd and #67 Bill in 3rd with #31 Brent in 4th and #55 Jordan in 5th.  With only a few laps to go, #40 Shawn and #11 Jason came together on the front stretch causing the #40 Shawn to have to be put on the wagon and the #11 Jason to be pushed off the track.

With one lap to go #89 Sadie spun in corner 1 and went to the back.

#25 Brook Chinnery took the checkered flag, while #13 Ian Hunter got 2nd, and Bill Durand took 3rd

Once again, these were really dusty races to watch, but well worth it. Congratulation to all the winners and to our many sponsors for tonight’s racing.

Wonderland Speedway July 1, 2005 - Driver's meeting: It was STRESSED once again tonight, that if you do not put your pit crew member's name on the list at the gate when you come in, THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE PITS. Also stressed, was that you are allowed only 3 pit crew members per driver. This rule will be enforced for safety reasons. Next up was the reminder that driver's pay attention to the YELLOW CAUTION lights and flags to avoid unnecessary accidents.

Last of all, Hugh Smibert (one of our hosts) works all week on the track (mostly by himself) and he believes that it is the drivers/and or crew's responsibility to help water the track on Friday nights. He ASKS that if you see help is needed to water the track, get on out there and help out. One person cannot water the track by themselves.

There were 20 Micro's and 23 Outlaws in the racing line up for tonight. We had an unusual number of "guest drivers" tonight, so I thought I would list them here.
# 32 Dan Laemers' Outlaw car was driven by Les McMillian
# 62 Steve Burlotte's Outlaw was driven by Bob Marr
# 203 Micro, usually driven by Nathan Lloyd was driven by the owner tonight, Stan Adams
# 69 Andy Wells' Outlaw was driven by Jordan Hanna who was doing double duty from his #55 Micro.
# 89 Sadie Bennett's Micro was driven by Barry Dunn who was also doing double duty from his #44 Outlaw.
If I missed anyone, sorry, if you would like me to know you have a driver change, just let me know. You can send an email to info@wonderlandspeedway.com.

The MICRO B winner was # 6 Andrew Gartly, 2nd # 76 Sean Durand, 3rd #17 Craig Housden.
The Outlaw B winner was # 301 Ron Veroughstrate, 2nd # 36 Casey Cox and 3rd # 61 Justin Martin.

The MICRO A MAIN began with # 79 Chad Baker on pole and #29 Shane Butler on outside pole. The race began at 9:20 pm and ended approximately at 9:38 pm. There were very few cautions and only 3 different race leaders. # 29 Shane Butler got a jump on # 79 Chad Baker and took the lead right at the start but lost it within a few laps to # 79 Chad. # 79 Chad quickly began putting distance between him and 2nd place # 29 Shane and the rest of the field and it wasn't long before cars were being lapped. # 89 (Barry Dunn) was quickly moving up from his starting position of 3rd and was closely followed by # 67 Bill Durand who had started in 5th.

The first caution came when #203 (Stan Adams), #16 Rick Bigg and # 58 Chris Kolpin all came together between corners 3 and 4. The YELLOW changed to a RED flag when #29 Shane came around corner 3 and was unable to stop due to a sudden lack of brakes, he hit the spun cars and FLEW into the air landing HARD on the tires in corner 4. He was uninjured but his car was put on the wagon and removed from the track. #203 (Stan), #16 Rick and #58 Chris were all kept in the back where they actually were before the accident. With the red flag, #76 Sean Durand realized his chain had broken and left the track, he was unable to make repairs fast enough to make it back on before the restart of the race and did not finish the race.

The restart began with one lap which quickly became a yellow as #24 Mike Huehn was spun in corner 2 and several cars spun to trying to avoid him. Unfortunately, some cars apparently didn't see the yellow lights or the accident and went right on in to hit the already stopped cars hard. Cars involved were #13 Ian Hunter, #27 Nathan Housden, #24 Mike Huehn, #15 Michael Hanna, #6 Andrew Gartly, #16 Rick Bigg and #67 Bill Durand who was one of the first ones to avoid #24 Mike and took the brunt of the cars who followed him into the corner. #24 Mike was sent to the back and #16 Rick left the track but made it back on before the restart.

On the restart #79 Chad still held the lead with #89 (Barry) in 2nd and #67 Bill Durand now sitting in 3rd. The race continued with #79 Chad holding the lead, #89 (Barry) in 2nd and 3rd place being taken over by #25 Brook Chinnery as he made a pass on the #67 Bill who now was sitting in 4th.

The race was stopped once again as a caution was called for #24 Mike who spun in corner 2 and then left the track. Within a few laps, the race came to an end with #89 (Barry Dunn) taking the checkered, #79 Chad Baker 2nd and #13 Ian Hunter 3rd. This race lasted only about 18 minutes but was a great race to watch.

The OUTLAW A MAIN began roughly at 9:42 pm and had many many more cautions. Sitting on pole was #62 Steve Burlotte and on outside pole sat #97 Ken Charboneau. #62 Steve took a quick lead only to be shut down on the first lap as a caution was thrown for the #46 Jake Miller who spun in corner 2. Adding insult to injury as #31 Adrian Kemps came around the corner and ran right over the front of #62 Steve's hood hitting him with some force. #0 D Lewis got caught with no where to go and hit the side of the #62 Steve as he sat sideways on the track. #46 Jake appeared fine as well as #0 Lewis as they were restarted and continued to race. The #31 Adrian had to be removed from the track on the wagon.

There was a complete restart with #62 Steve in the lead only to be shut down once again as a caution came for the #37 Shawn Paul who blew a tire and was luckily missed by all as he slowly made his way around and off the track to the exit at corner 4. #97 Ken Charboneau found himself up and off the infield just as #37 Shawn blew his tire and #64 Kevin Moore left the track for unknown reasons. #37 Shawn made it back on the track before the restart and went to the back.

Once again, within a few laps a caution came out as #4 Steve Wells rode high and slow to exit at corner 4 and #37 Shawn also left the track. #8 Ken Lewis took this opportunity to come back on to the track and #3 Matt Wells went up into the infield.

Race resumed with #62 Steve still in the lead, #97 Ken 2nd and #44 Barry Dunn still in 3rd. 5th and 6th positions were traded back and forth a few times between the #32 (Les McMillian) and the #02 Hugh Smibert both having a great race between themselves.

The next caution came when #24 Darin Hanna spun in corner 2 but made a complete 360° turn and ended up facing the right way to continue on. He was fortunately missed by several cars in these intense few seconds. No damage - no contact. Quite neat to watch actually.

Racing was quickly restarted with #62 Steve holding the lead and being closely followed by #97 Ken and #44 Barry who began putting space between them and the #02 Hugh who was also beginning to put distance between him and the #11 Norm Brunette. A caution quickly put this to an end as #90 Mark Lamont and #8 Ken Lewis got caught up together in corner 2. #90 Mark went to the back.

Green/yellow as caution came out for #12 Johann Schmidt who spun in corner 2. He was missed by 5 cars as he slid downwards to the infield. #12 Johann was then sent to the back.

Green/yellow when #37 Shawn lost a tire which flew off up into the air between corners 3 and 4. He left the track not to return for the rest of the night.

Racing continued with the same consistent top 5 cars, #62 Steve, #97 Ken, #44 Barry, #02 Hugh and #11 Norm Brunette. One, two laps before another caution which came out when #91 Kyle Waters broke in corner 2 and rode high to exit. Racing resumed with #36 Casey Cox, #11 Norm and #32 (Les) all deciding to go 3 wide in corner 2. #12 Johann slid up into the infield but made it out quickly under his own power before a caution could be called as they were now down to 5 laps to go.

A caution DID come out when #44 Barry spun in corner 3 and #62 Steve was sent to the back. Racing now continued with #44 Barry in first, #97 Ken 2nd followed by #02 Hugh in 3rd, #11 Norm in 4th and #32 (Les) in 5th.

Once again a quick lap/caution as #62 Steve spun in corner 4 but he just stayed in the back.
Green/yellow as #62 Steve spun between corner 3 and 4, #12 Johann went to the back then up into the infield.

#44 Barry Dunn went on to take the checkered flag with #97 Ken Charboneau taking 2nd and #02 Hugh Smibert taking 3rd, (way to go fearless leader of the dirt track ) #11 Norm Brunette 4th and #32 (Les McMillan) 5th.

All in all a very busy race with lots going on with lapped cars, cautions and great passing.

Wonderland Speedway, June 24, 2005 – Driver’s meeting. Drivers were asked, that when lining up for a race, if there is a space in front of them, fill it up so that the race can be started. It is taking too long to get everyone in order. Also, know who you are supposed to be behind before you go out so that you know if they are missing or not.

Next item was regarding rotors – if the officials notice that your rotor is red hot and NOT cooling down, they will give you the red / black flag to get you off the track quickly. This is a safety issue.

Now for the OUTLAW A MAIN which was started at 9:35 pm tonight. 22 cars started the race with #31 Adrian Kemps sitting on inside pole and #91 Kyle Watters on outside pole. With the green flag, #91 Kyle took a quick lead and  pulled away from the field leaving #4 Steve Wells, #64 Kevin Moore and #24 Darin Hanna fighting it out HARD for 2nd position. Eventually #64 Kevin took the 2nd place for several laps.

The first caution came out when #61 Justin Martin and #1 Holly Porter came together in corner 2, #61 Justin ended up leaving the track and #1 Holly was sent to the back. A lap or so later the next caution came out when #37 Shawn Paul spun between corners 2 and 3 and was pushed off the track. #301 Ron Veroughstrate who appeared to be having mechanical problems during this race, left the track along with #4 Steve Wells as well. Fortunately, #4 Steve, #61 Justin and #301 Ron were all able to make it back on the track before the green flag was waved once more.

#91 Kyle continued to hold the lead and now had #62 Steve Burlotte right behind him in 2nd place. The track was very dry making visibility difficult for both drivers and spectators. Another caution was called when several cars came together in corner 3 taking out #4 Steve, #24 Darin and #61 Justin. Race restarted with #91 Kyle still in the lead and #62 Steve right behind him. Unfortunately, it went green / yellow as several cars were once again caught up, this time in corner 2. The 02 of Hugh Smibert was spun, #1 Holly hit the wall and #46 Jake Miller, #69 Andy Wells and #44 Barry Dunn were all caught up in this mess. #1 Holly was removed from the track and #46 Jake had to be put on to the wagon. Didn’t actually see what started this tangle.

There was quite a bit of passing in the back part of the field, with #6 Tyler Wilson, #8 Ken Lewis and #32 Dan Laemers all moving up a few positions, while # 44 Barry found himself falling back several positions.

At one point #02 Hugh, #36 Casey Cox and #8 Ken decided to try going 3 wide into corner 1 and actually made it through with out mishap. #91 Kyle went on to take the checkered flag, closely followed by #62 Steve Burlotte and in 3rd place #64 Kevin Moore.

The MICRO A MAIN began at 10:00 pm with #00 Caleb Woods sitting on inside pole and #40 Shawn Preston outside pole. The officials waited several laps before dropping the green, but unfortunately #79 Chad Baker was unable to make the start of the race. With the green flag start, #00 Caleb took an early lead with #40 Shawn, #31 Brent Kemps, #203 Nathan Lloyd AND #25 Brook Chinnery ALL FIGHTING for 2nd place. They moved around the track like they were all joined together before a quick caution came out when #6 Andrew Gartly and #55 Jordan Hanna got caught up together in corner 4. BOTH were sent to the back on that one.

#203 Nathan came off for a quick repair during this caution, but just missed the green flag and had to sit off a couple of laps until the next caution came out.

Within a lap of the restart, #25 Brook was racing side by side with #00 Caleb before quickly taking the lead from the #00 Caleb. When the next caution came out, the reason was unknown but it was a lucky break for #16 Rick Bigg who had just been lapped by #25 Brook. This caution gave #16 Rick his lap back.

Now, #25 Brook was sitting in the lead with #00 Caleb in 2nd and #31 Brent Kemps in 3rd. It wasn’t long before #16 Rick was once again passed by #25 Brook and went a lap down. At this point there were a couple of cars down laps as they had left the track and came back on. Next caution came when #24 Mike Huehn spun in corner 2 and went to the back on the restart.

#25 Brook continued to hold the lead with 2nd place now being taken over by #13 Ian Hunter. #00 Caleb sat in  3rd place. There was some passing going on in the back half of f the field. #16 Rick wasn’t having much luck tonight as he was spun in corner 1, and was sent to the back.

A few green laps then another  caution as #24 Mike broke in corner 3 and was pushed off and #16 Rick spun once again.

On the restart, #25 Brook continued to hold the lead and began breaking away from the rest of the field with #13 Ian close behind him. They quickly lapped the #15 Michael Hanna and then #25 Brook lost the lead to #13 Ian on almost the last lap.

#13 Ian Hunter took the checkered leaving #25 Brook Chinnery in 2nd and #00 Caleb Woods taking 3rd. #55 Jordan Hanna spun after the checkered flag in corner 2.

Now, I have to say Hi to the Ladies on the hill and let them know how great those burgers are. Thanks Mrs. Smibert, for always having that BBQ hot and cooking up a storm before we even get to the track. Great Job!

June 17, 2005 Wonderland Speedway. Well, the driver's meeting tonight was brief and to the point. Drivers were asked to hold "A HAND" doesn't matter which one, up when a caution came out, to let drivers behind them to know they were slowing down. This will hopefully eliminate even more accidents. Also, "NO" - 3 wide in the corners during warm ups, these are WARM UPS not racing. And last of all, when you have a problem and are being pushed off, EXIT at the nearest exit on the track that you are pushed off to.

Now in the interest of brevity, I will no longer be recapping the "B Mains" of either race but I will continue to try to bring you the highlights of both A Mains.

Tonight, beginning with MICRO A MAIN - the Micro race began with #58 Chris Kolpin on inside pole. With a wave of the green, #25 Brook Chinnery grabbed the lead only to be able to hold it for 2 laps before the first caution came out when #15 Michael Hanna spun in corner 1 and went to the back. #11 Jason Martin spun to miss #15 and hit the tires tail first.

The race was restarted single file with everyone running nose to tail for 4 or 5 laps. Next caution occurred when a tire flew off the #11 Jason just after corner 2. The race continued with #25 Brook in the lead and #79 Chad Baker right on his bumper with #55 Jordan Hanna racing along for 3rd. Suddenly #55 Jordan got lose and spun in corner 2 which put him at the back.

#25 Brook continued to lead with #79 Chad in 2nd, but now #67 Bill Durand had 3rd. These 3 cars ran close together changing positions back and forth and putting distance between them and the field as they raced. As the #24 Mike Huehn was lapped, #79 Chad took the lead and #25 Brook dropped back to 2nd. #67 Bill held on to 3rd and they all still kept distance between them and the field.

The next caution came when #16 Rick Bigg spun in corner 1. There was quite a bit of passing in the field with several cars changing positions and moving up from the back. The #29 owned by Shane Butler had a "Guest Driver" driving tonight who spun in corner 2 bringing out a caution.

RESTART/ caution as several cars became entangled in corner 4 as #19 Trevor Helle spun and hit the tires and two other cars spun to miss him. #89 Sadie Bennett and #29 Guest driver. #19 Trevor was pushed off the track. On the next restart, #89 Sadie JUST missed the flag and had to wait for another caution.

With the green, #79 Chad, #25 Brook and #67 Bill continued to work ALMOST as a team and they stayed welded together and pulled away from the field once more. #29 Guest driver and #24 Mike Huehn became lapped a few times, and a second group of drivers began breaking away from the last 7 cars in the field. Now, we had 3 separate entities racing around the track until the 2nd to last caution came out. #15 Michael Hanna spun in corner 2 as he lost a tire and #6 Andrew Gartly spun into the tires in corner 2 as well.

One lap restart followed by another caution as #72 Bob Kelly spun in corner 4 and went to the back. Last lap with everyone racing for the flag found #79 Chad Baker taking the flag, with #25 Brook Chinnery in 2nd and #67 Bill Durand in 3rd

OUTLAW A MAIN - began roughly at 9:50 pm with #91 Kyle Watters sitting on inside pole and #45 Curtis Gartly outside pole. At the green flag, #45 Curtis got the lead but the race had to be restarted as #61 Justin Martin and #4 Steve Wells became caught up together in corner 1 and brought out a caution. #61 Justin went to the back on that one.

Once again, the cars doubled up for a complete restart but had to be stopped on the front stretch as there was some discussion as to who was where. With that straightened out, #91 Kyle and #45 Curtis were still sitting in front and ready to go. #45 Curtis got the lead again only to be shut down again as the next caution came out for #32 Dan Laemers who broke between corner 3 and 4 and had to be pushed off, with a quick fix, #32 Dan was back on the track at the back of the line only to brake again and still not able to start the race.

Green flag falling, very quickly found cars running 2 and 3 wide in corner 2 as they fought for position on the track. Top 5 cars remained the same as a few laps later several cars spun in corner 4 causing damage to #11 Norm Brunette who had to be put on the wagon along with #8 Ken Lewis. #37 Sean Paul was involved and #97 Ken Charboneau. Both of these cars were able to continue racing. I was unable to see the exact cause of the accident from my position.

Next caution found #1 Holly Porter spinning between corners 2 and 3 and then taking her place at the back of the line. At 10:10 pm, the cars were AGAIN running 2 and 3 abreast as #45 Curtis held onto 1st place and #44 Barry Dunn tried hard to take it away from him from the 2nd position. A few cars were lapped, #46 Jake Miller, #24 Darin Hanna and #91 Kyle left the track.

The race ended on a sour note, as #45 Curtis Gartly took the checkered with #44 Barry Dunn in 2nd and a huge crash in corner 1. Several cars were involved with Track Owner, Hugh Smibert's car being badly damaged as he flew up in the air and rolled as he hit the ground. Hugh was very slow to get out of his car and looked quite sore after the race. I do not know how this accident occurred and there are too many conflicting observations to be able to piece together an accurate chain of events. This particular one will remain a mystery, sorry about that.

Friday night racing began with a few important reminders from our Main Sponsor - Hugh Smibert during the driver's meeting and so here they are in a nutshell.
1. PLEASE stay out of the bean fields; it is as simple as that. If you are found driving through the fields, just don't come back!
2. HEADREST are mandatory by Friday June 17th, 2005. If your car does not have a headrest on the right side (at least) you will not be racing.
3. SIGNING IN - anyone who is not registered at the front gate will NOT be allowed back in the pits. This is an insurance issue. If you are found in the pit with out permission you will be told to leave.
4. SLOW DOWN before coming into the pits. Take a cool down lap before you leave the track after a race. Cars are coming in TOO FAST into the pit area and could injure someone.
5. PLEASE, if possible, take the time to thank our sponsors each week or patronize their businesses. We need these sponsors good will.

Hugh would also like to thank Shane Butler (#29) who was responsible for new hoses and getting the pump fixed this past winter, which is used to water the track. Thank you Shane!

Now to the racing, the OUTLAW B MAIN was short and sweet. #24 Darin Hanna began the race on inside pole and immediately took the lead, unfortunately, #301 Ron Veroughstrate and #61 Justin Martin had a different opinion as they were glued to either side of him with #301 Ron quickly taking over 2nd position. Within another few laps #45 Curtis Gartly had moved up from his starting position of 9th place and was running side by side with #301 Ron.

A caution came out when #61 Justin lost a chain and was pushed off the track. Shortly afterwards, #45 Curtis got away from #301 Ron and past #24 Darin Hanna to take over 1st place. #24 Darin Hanna then became caught up with #37 Shawn Paul who got a flat tire and left the track with out causing a caution. #45 Curtis maintained the lead and was putting distance between him and the rest of the field to soon cross over the finish line taking the checkered flag.

The MICRO B MAIN was just as exciting to watch as the Outlaw B. #67 Bill Durand had inside pole and took the lead from the start. Within a lap, #24 Mike Huehn caused a caution as he spun out in corner #2 and went to the back.

The next caution came a few laps later as #15 Mike Hanna went up into the infield in corner #1. Mean while, #00 Caleb Wood was putting some serious pressure on the #67 Bill as he tried to find a way around Bill and to the front. Unfortunately for the #00 Caleb, #67 Bill was not about to give up 1st place. The third caution came at the half way mark as #29 Shane Butler spun in corner #2 and went to the back. One lap later found the next caution as #25 Brook Chinnery spun on the front stretch. He was then hit by the #49 Dana Duff and narrowly missed by #29 Shane and #15 Mike. The rest of the field made it safely past #25 without incident. #25 Brook and #49 Dana both had to leave the track due to damage.

One lap - one caution again as #24 Mike Huehn found himself spinning just after corner #2, he left the track. #67 Bill and #00 Caleb Wood were beginning to put some distance between them and the field when the last caution of the race came out for #40 Shawn Preston as he spun on the front stretch.

#67 Bill Durand took the checkered flag with #00 Caleb Wood close behind him for 2nd place.

OUTLAW A MAIN had a starting field of 22 cars with #02 Hugh Smiburg (track owner) on inside pole position. First lap went green / yellow as #3 Matt Wells lost control in SLOW MOTION and spun on the front stretch collecting most of the field. #64 Kevin Moore broke a front left spindle and was towed off. #301 Ron Veroughstrate and the #3 Matt also had to leave for repairs.

The field than had a complete restart with #69 Andy Wells taking a quick lead only to lose it just as quickly to the #8 Ken Lewis. One lap in, and the next caution was called as #61 Justin Martin spun between corner #1 and #2. Another restart past the cone only to have another caution as the #24 Darin Hanna lost power and had to leave the track, # 3 Matt took this opportunity to get back on the track from his quick repair in the pits.

'Nother lap, 'nother caution as #61 Justin spun to miss the #24 Darin who spun in corner #3 both ending up into the tires facing the fans. Little sheepish grin and a wave to the fans I'm sure before they were straightened out on the track to continue racing.

'Nother lap and once again 'nother caution as #77 (unknown) spun in corner #1 causing the #02 car of Hugh and the #61 Justin to spin out trying to miss him. Back on track with another restart only to be shut down again as #61 Justin spun again in corner #2 and took up his place at the back of the line.

Now as the race resumed, #8 Ken Lewis, who had been leading this whole time, found him self replaced by the #6 Tyler Wilson who quickly put distance between his car and the #45 Curtis Gartly who had followed him past #8 Ken. Breathing down both their tail pipes was the #32 of Dan Laemers. These three cars became quite the team as they lapped car after car. In just a few laps, at least 8 cars had been lapped making this race a hard one to score up at the scoring desk I'm sure, but, our scorers were up to the challenge and kept an eye on everyone at the same time. Through much dirt flying in the pit area, the #6 Tyler was declared the winner with #45 Curtis in 2nd and #32 Dan in 3rd. I was told by the fans this was a great race, but we missed quite a bit of it in the pits as the wind was blowing the WRONG way for us.

The MICRO A MAIN started with #79 Chad Baker on inside pole and once again, racing started with green / yellow as the first caution came when #40 Shawn Preston spun in corner 4 then left the track. A complete restart followed by another caution as #24 Mike Huehn broke and tried to make it off the track unassisted by riding high on his way to the exit. Unfortunately he didn't quite make the exit and had to be pushed off the track.

Racing resumed with #79 Chad still in the lead as #16 Rick Bigg bounced off the tires on the front stretch but held on to his car and continued to race. #40 Shawn drove into the infield when his car broke and did not cause a caution either.

The race continued with #76 Sean Durand coming off with a flat tire and making it back on again a couple of laps later as a caution was thrown for the #89 Sadie Bennett who spun in corner #2. This turned out lucky for the #29 Shane Butler who was just about to be lapped by the #79 Chad.

A few laps later, a caution was called as the #21 Ron Prince was apparently on fire and was told to stop so that he could be checked out. Hot stuff Ron! He was pulled off the track and the fire was taken are of.

Chad #79 continued to lead only slowed down by a caution as #29 Shane got caught up on the infield on the front stretch brining out a caution. Next caution came a few laps later as #89 Sadie spun again and had to be pushed off. #19 Trevor Helle spun with her and had to be pushed off as well. Two more cautions were called as #31 Brent Kemps had to leave the track with mechanical problems followed by the #00 Caleb Wood who spun in front of the starters stand.

With only two laps to go, #13 Ian Hunter who had been breathing down #79 Chad's neck the whole race and being very patient, found his opening and made a clean pass on the #79 Chad taking the lead and the win. This left #79 Chad in 2nd and #67 Bill in 3rd. This was quite a race, again, too bad we missed parts of it due to the major dust storm in the pit area. (lucky spectators) Congratulations to you Ian, great win.

HELLO RACE FANS. Here we are once again back at Wonderland Speedway for the 2005 season and what a start it was. Emphasis this year will be on weekly maintenance on all cars.

Our regular announcer (David Longfield) had prior commitments, so Ted Kennedy came out of retirement for a 1 night stand.

Our faithful support crews and officials are all back and everyone is anxious to get this season started.

Friday night races were a learning experience for a few rookies and for a few drivers who needed to work a few kinks out of their steering as they had to remember how to TURN LEFT.

There were 23 Micros and 21 Outlaws all painted up and sparkling as they waited for that green flag to drop.

First heat had two rookies in it and the first CAUTION of the season was brought out by #15 Michael Hanna when he spun in corner 3. # 27 Nathan Housden got the lead after a few quick laps and went on to win this first heat of the night.

The other heats were amazingly quick with few cautions.

MICRO B MAIN had all 3 rookies in it and only 3 cautions. (Which none of them were involved in). #6 Andrew Gartly had the inside pole but lost it at the drop of the green flag. The first caution came out with in a lap of the start of the race when #24 Mike Huehn spun out between corners 3 & 4.

Car #11 Jason Martin slowly rolled off the track when his engine appeared to die on him. No caution was called.

The lead was held briefly by #29 Shane Butler who had a serious challenge when he went 3 wide in corner 4 with #49R Dana Duff and #15 Michael Hanna. Dana Duff #49 came out in the lead with #15 Michael close behind him.

Caution #2 was called when #25 Brook Chinnery got caught up with another car (driver unknown) that then spun and got hung up on the lip of the infield. #25 Brook went to the back. There was quite a bit of passing with #49 Dana holding unto the lead throughout the race.

Caution #3 came when #55 Jordan Hanna spun in corner 2. Jordan went on to bounce off the wall shortly afterwards but made a grrreat save and kept running without causing any other incidents.

#49 Dana Duff took the checkered flag in the first Micro B Main of the season.

OUTLAW B MAIN began with #44 Barry Dunn on inside pole but he lost the lead within the first lap as he went to half power and had to be pushed into the infield by one of our two trusty 4-wheelers bringing out the first caution. It was determined that this was still a good start and the race was restarted single file past the cone and our Cone Dude - Ron Bishop. Hi Ron, nice to see you there and still with ALL 10 FINGERS!

The lead was then grabbed by #12 Johann Schmidt (who has moved from the Micro's to the Outlaws this year). But, after only one lap, #2 caution was called when #69 Andy Wells appeared to slow down which caused #77 Josh Ackworth to check up and a WHOLE chain reaction in corner 3 involving at least 5 other cars. #1 Holly Porter left but made it back on before the green flag. #49 Brad Duff had to be pushed off the track.

The race was restarted and #69 Andy Wells quickly took the lead away from #12 Johann. Caution #3 came when #1 Holly spun in corner 2. The race was restarted and #91 Kyle Watters quickly took the lead from #69 Andy. Meanwhile, #4 Steve Wells was putting on quite a light show as sparks were coming out from under his car, but he was still flying around the track so apparently it was nothing serious.
In third position, #64 Kevin Moore and #4 Steve Wells were battling it out side by side for a few laps until #64 Kevin won the battle.

Caution #4 came when #12 Johann Schmidt was spun in corner 3 by #1 Holly Porter. Holly was sent to the back. On the restart #91 Kyle held the lead but soon lost it to #64 Kevin who quickly began putting distance between him and the rest of the field. Kevin certainly seemed hooked up tonight in his brand new car. The final caution of this race came when #12 Johann hit the infield in corner 2 on the last lap. The race was restarted and went white/green/checkered with #64 Kevin Moore taking the win. Congratulations Kevin.

MICRO A MAIN began with 23 cars tonight with #27 Nathan Housden sitting on inside pole. On the first lap, a caution came out as #49 Dana Duff lost control in corner 2 and went up onto the infield. The race was restarted. Nathan #27 had his hands full right from the start as #203 Nathan Lloyd quickly put the pressure on him to take over the lead. #27 Nathan had a brief rest as the 2nd caution came out when #89 Sadie Bennett got entangled with #6 Andrew Gartly in corner 2. #89 Sadie was pushed off the track.

#203 Nathan then got the lead but within a few laps caution #3 came when #67 Bill Durand and #16 Rick Bigg came together in corner 4. #16 Rick was sent to the back Racing continued with 19 cars still on the track. The racing was fast paced and daring passes were made. The next caution came in corner 2 when #55 Jordan Hanna blew a tire and spun when #49 Dana Duff ran over his back wheel. Dana #49 left the track and #55 Jordan was pushed off, but he made it back on before the flag was dropped.

With #203 Nathan still in the lead Corner 2 claimed another caution as #19 Trevor Helle blew a tire and was narrowly missed by #76 Sean Durand as #19 Trevor spun. #55 Jordan left the track once again but made it back on again. (Pretty amazing pit crew you have there Jordan). Trevor #19 also left the track at this point.

Another caution occurred on the restart as #29 Shane Butler hit the wall in corner 2 and rolled over on his side while trying to miss an accident. #6 Andrew Gartly and #58 Chris Kolpin was also involved. Shane #29 left the track and #6 Andrew was pulled off.

Flags went Green/caution again as #17 Craig Housden blew a tire in corner 2, spun to face the on coming traffic and was, with some incredible luck, missed by everyone. Great driving guys.

As they were nearing the end of the race, #203 Nathan and #13 Ian Hunter were beginning to pull away from the field, until #31 Brent Kemps went high just past the flag stand trying to pass everyone on the high side. Unfortunately, he hit the tires HARD, bounced out into on coming traffic and up, flying into the air, flipping as he went, landing on top of the #67 Bill Durand's wing, totally demolishing it and causing a chain reaction of flips and crashes that took out over 3/4s of the field. The damage to most of the cars was quite extensive with very few coming off the track unscathed. The race was called at this point as time was running out. At this time I don't think anyone was injured.

#203 Nathan Lloyd was declared the winner of the MICRO A MAIN.

OUTLAW A MAIN began with #32 Dan Laemers on inside pole, and he decided right from the start he wasn't giving it up for ANYBODY. A few cars left the track without causing any cautions and it was several laps into the race before the first caution was called. Unfortunately it was a pretty serious one, fortunately no one was injured.

Just after corner 2, #12 Johann Schmidt flipped (cause unknown) which caused #64 Kevin Moore to flip and hit the wall, seriously damaging his car as he tried to avoid hitting #12 Johann. #45 Curtis Gartly and #91 Kyle Watters were also involved as they too tried to avoid the accident. #91 Kyle and #34 Curtis were able to continue racing, but #12 Johann and #64 Kevin had to be removed from the track due to the damage to their cars.

Dan #32 continued to hold onto the lead and quickly began lapping cars. He didn't have much of a challenge and made all the right decisions as he lapped #69 Andy Wells, #1 Holly Porter, #3 Matt Wells just to name a few.

In the back of the field #69 Andy and #37 Shawn Paul fought for positioning with #37 Sean winning out.

Dan Laemers #32 went on to win the first OUTLAW A MAIN for 2005.

This race was fast, with the top 3 cars passing lapped cars with ease. This was actually a good thing, as time ran out and the Outlaw race had began quite late.

Congratulations to all the winners tonight and welcome to the 2005 race season.

On a different note, the 50/50 draw was $402.00 which was won by Mr. Dean Thomas. Congratulations Mr. Thomas!!!
